Although GTA The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition releases tomorrow, Rockstar has not revealed yet any gameplay footage from it. Thankfully, though, people that got their hands on the game have already leaked some gameplay footage from all three remasters.
The first gameplay video (for Grand Theft Auto San Andreas Remaster) comes from Reddit’s member Zombathon67890. Unfortunately, though, this is off-cam footage. Still, it can give you an idea of how the game plays.
The other three videos are a bit more interesting. Shared by YouTube’s okayjosh, these videos showcase Grand Theft Auto 3 Remaster and Grand Theft Auto Vice City Remaster. The video for GTA3 is 33-minute long. On the other hand, the two videos for Vice City amount to a total of 40 minutes.

As we’ve already reported, Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition will feature higher resolution textures. Players can expect better textures on characters, weapons, vehicles and roads. The 3D character models also appear to be better, though they now have a more cartoonish look to them.
Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition will also have a new lighting system with better shadows and reflections. Additionally, the remasters will have improved water and weather effects. Not only that, but they will come with enhanced detail in trees and foliage. And, lastly, you can expect better draw distances for all three of these remasters.

I think these remaster games are a disappointment based on these videos, I specifically dislike the fact that enemies are now highlighted and the gore is downgraded. regardless, I think we should wait for release and see if this game is a solid foundation for modders.

Such old games should be remade from the ground up, like it happened with Mafia and the Crash Bandicoot Trilogy. in the gta 3 video in 4:11 you can see that the awful collision detection of gta 3 is still there, you car gets damaged without even the street light touching the car.

Watched GTA SA with plane, it looked like trash, like the old engine, with things spawning in front of your face.
These game are no nearly good , as we expected , it feels like I am watching modded version with improved draw distance , low brightness (even high brightness on settings), no wonder why Rockstar removed classic trilogy from steam store, because the game plays just as original, but nostalgia music and BGM music got replaced in GTA vice city and GTA 3 into GTA san andreas bgm
We have 30% of the soundtrack cut, missions are cut and censored, gore is reduced and mobile port bugs are still there.

Grand Theft Missing Content: Nostalgic Cashgrab Edition, with recycled animations and sound effects, and yet still unable to swim in Vice City and GTA 3, whatsoever.
The thing is, the assets -mostly models- even when they are touch up still look like from 2 decades ago so they stand out too much with the good effects and lighting, so it ends up uneven and uncohesive.
It looks like another “Mario 64 on UE5” videos but with classic GTA games.

About as subtle as your typical Reshade “mod” and I don’t think you can possibly get a more generic UE4 stock “look” to these games.
If they would have atleast put some effort into the main character models this would improve the game so much. It’s looking good in some areas.. others are terrible
The right thing to do would be releasing the games one by one in the GTA V engine (i know, is unrealistic)…but that’s a lot of money, time and work…and im sure this indie studio called Rockstar doesnt have those.
My point is, given the history and importance of this games (if you ignore that they are part of the biggest franchise in entertainment money wise) these ports should be made by the A-team and not the interns that made the cheap mobile versions.
They went cheap, knowing that will sell well just from nostalgia and brand alone…which some would think is a smart move but to me it just damages the IP and Rockstar in some way, is not like they care about PC anyways.
