Vitor Maccari has shared an amazing fan remake video of The Legend of Zelda Wind Waker in Unreal Engine. This video will give you a glimpse at what a modern-day HD remake of Wind Waker could look like.
As Maccari said:
“I’ve reused the animation and the 3D assets from a short movie I made a few months ago. I’ve also modeled some new assets like grass, palm trees and rocks, and I’ve made the handcam moviments myself with my DSLR camera. Then I tracked the shots using Nuke and imported them to Unreal.”
It looks incredible so be sure to watch it.
Speaking of Unreal Engine fan remakes, I also suggest taking a look at the Tomb Raider: The Angel of Darkness Fan Remake. There is also a Star Wars Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II Remake and an amazing Batman 1989 fan video. Let’s also not forget the stunning Final Fantasy X Fan Remake. You can also find a playable demo of Mortal Kombat Mythologies Sub-Zero Fan Remake.
Enjoy!

While he is a die-hard PC gamer, his gaming roots can be found on consoles. John loved – and still does – the 16-bit consoles, and considers SNES to be one of the best consoles. Still, the PC platform won him over consoles. That was mainly due to 3DFX and its iconic dedicated 3D accelerator graphics card, Voodoo 2. What realistic look?? Did you even watch the video?
Did you? Link looks like he’s made of plastic, the art style here is way off the source material and doesn’t look good at all.
every time you post articles like this I just open the video to dislike and close immediately.
like i dislike your comment hehe, dislike mine !
I don’t care about you to dislike your comments, you’re irrelevant to me like a midnight fart.
that’s why you answered me.
I’m insulting you and you think I care about you, you must be mentally challenged.
thanks for replying again, you still don’t care about me.
This video was awesome, and such a great labor of love by the creator as well as a great project to work on there skills in the unreal engine. John needs new followers. The people that left comments here are abysmal.
Nintendo will make their own remake and sell the same game to its dead brain fans
You’re absolutely right, the art style here is way off. It’s got a creepy-plastic look that’s more akin to the art style of the recent Links’s awakening remake than the original Wind Waker and HD remaster. None of this looks remotely cel-shaded, and honestly it looks kind of like hot garbage…. I’ll take the HD remaster wind waker running in 4K on CEMU over this any day.
have you ever thought maybe.. just because you dont like a remake, doesnt mean its bad?
