The Medium has already recouped its development and marketing costs

Money.pl has reported that The Medium has already recouped its development and marketing costs. As such, and in just three days, the game has become profitable for Bloober Team.

The Medium came out on the PC on January 28th. And, as we’ve already reported, the game currently suffers from major optimization/performance issues.

The game uses a dual-reality system, via which it can display two different worlds at the same time. However, and while some dual-reality scenes work fine, there are numerous scenes in which performance tanks.

It will be interesting to see whether Bloober Team will be able to further optimize its title.

Our PC Performance Analysis article has been postponed until the team fixes the PC version. Until then, you can find here some Ray Tracing and DLSS benchmarks.

Stay tuned for more!

    1. Game looks great just needs to optimize. Can always depend on finding the most negative shitposts in the comments section here though.

        1. Not something I would have gone for normally, but the RT caught my attention. Glad it did as it turned out to be a great ‘experience’.

      1. Not sure what is in the nature of someone who likes these types of story based games. They are totally unable to assess quality for whatever reason. Wish i knew because this phenomenon didnt exist back in point n clicks heyday. Maybe you just need a few more IQ points to play those games.

      1. Clearly, same as all those weird Novel type games on Steam that seem to sell well and be constantly churned out. They’d be far better off reading and actual book.

  1. every time poland makes a game it sells without drm or anything. Hmm….maybe the west sucks or game development there costs too much.

    1. This game is in Game Pass day 1 so everyone can play it for 1 usd. You can finish it in 2 days. Very few people will pirate it when they can just play it for 1 usd from pass. DRM is more important in games which cost 60 usd at launch. Games from Game Pass never used Denuvo

      1. The microsofts platform now has support for denuvo and multiple games are using it despite being rentable for just a dollar (or $14.99/mo…). One example being the new yakuza 7 game. I’d rather have people pirate games from their platform than to rent for it because you can’t even mod the files, they’re locked down in some system folder that you can no way in hell access.

Also slightly offtopic but looking at how microsoft first party studios make their games, they don’t give a fxck about you spending $60 on 1 game because they want you to keep paying them monthly, so they just keep adding content updates every month + microtransactions.

          1. I’ve tried to like Yakuza but they’re all so damn boring. 15 minute cutscenes with 5 minutes of gameplay in between.

      2. I pirated it because its easier than signing up for Game Pass. Never mind getting charged again in a month because I forget to cancel the subscription.

          1. Ya I know, still just easier to pirate. Don’t have to deal with launchers or logins or anything.

    2. Poland doesn’t make anything other than low grade garbage. their best game is a clunky t*rd that only low iq teenage f4ggots like because they wouldn’t know a good game if it hit them in the face.

          1. I’ve thought about it. Cost of living is all over the place though. Basic necessities like groceries and vodka are very cheap, but anything foreign like electronics can be 5x more expensive. Many of the youth speak English but its still nowhere near ubiquitous.

  2. As with Cyberpunk 2077 the fact that it recouped its costs already doesn’t make the final product any better. Good for the developers and investors I guess.

But it doesn’t really bode well for regular gamers as this just strengthens the notion that you can release buggy unfinished games and still be rewarded plenty.

  3. This is a SLOW game so be prepared, and in “dual” mode the fps is cut in half for the most part. It’s getting more attention because it’s january, no major games after the holidays, otherwise it’s niche and forgot very quickly. That being said it is the same old juice tricks in so called Catholic Poland. The Polish president is a crypto-juice and his buddies in the gog are just playing kabbalistic games. Team Joober is no different, with names like Pasternak etc you have a lot of crypto-juice all over, sheesh when will the goyim learn?
