Ubisoft has announced that Anno 1800 currently has over one million players. As such, Anno 1800 is the fastest-selling game in Ubisoft’s beloved 21-year-old series. So yeah, apparently strategy games are not dead as some people thought.
In order to celebrate this announcement, Ubisoft shared the following infograph.
Lastly, Ubisoft announced a free to play weekend for Anno 1800. From March 12th and until March 15th, PC gamers will be able to download and play the game. Do note that once this free to play weekend ends, you won’t be able to access/play the game. However, all of your save progress will transfer to the final game once – and if – you purchase it.

While he is a die-hard PC gamer, his gaming roots can be found on consoles. John loved – and still does – the 16-bit consoles, and considers SNES to be one of the best consoles. Still, the PC platform won him over consoles. That was mainly due to 3DFX and its iconic dedicated 3D accelerator graphics card, Voodoo 2. I don’t play such kind of games, but that’s impressive!
I guess the Denuvo paid off.
I usually don’t play city sims.. but I’m watching a let’s play of this game and it does look fun.
Imagine how many more copies they could have sold had they not pulled it from Steam.
It was, they removed it for their cancerous EGS semi-excusivity…
Steamspy say that there’s like 500K copies sold on Steam ! (but I have to admit this is surprisingly high numbers!)
Here’s the link:
https://store.steampowered.com/app/916440/Anno_1800/
Where are the detailed numbers ?
BTW the 2 last games (Anno 2070, Anno 2205) were garbage-ishhh so the sales were in relation to this too……
AND I would not be surprise if the Steam sales were better than at EGS, even if they removed it before launch! LMAO
