Totally agree with you there. Some of the worst excesses I see posted in the comments sections here sometimes have me rolling my eyes but if the alternative is effectively giving in to the SJW demands of the likes of MrSquifler, SpaceKnotzy, pollymolly, etc, then freedom of speech must prevail. Just throwing this out there. Do you remember what led to the vote about what would be acceptable in the comment section to begin with?
John posted that there was too much political comments in the comment section and he deleted a bunch of them. He said if he wanted political stuff like gamergate here he would put up articles like that.
He reconsidered and said that the comment section belongs to us and let us vote about what we thought should be acceptable there but we don’t know if his view that there is too much political commenting here has really changed or if he’s just accepting the choice that got the most votes.
If you go back and look at the vote count you will see that the majority of participants (choices 2 and 3 and 4 combined) didn’t vote for “no censorship”.
The wording of the choices and the way the results will be measured may be different in the next vote.
I wouldnt say the comment sections get political, we mostly talk about games. We talk about the non game stuff, got it out of our system and moved on. Far less political than any other site out there. With the censorship going everywhere, i will vote for free speech next time.

There is a difference between a Comment section and a Chat. The illegal stuff is similar. The personal attacks… well… you guys did vote for unrestrained policy (though for obvious reasons we can’t have such a policy in a Chat).
I respect the freedom you’re giving us but how do you justify removing gey purn pics from comment section?they’re not personal attack nor illegal.
I’m all for complete freedom but i too would be against posting seksual pics but removing those does not match what we voted for.

Another reason is that apparently Google sends DSOG warnings about classifying them as an adult site for even having certain sexual words in the comment section.That’s why when you use certain words they go to moderation where a moderator puts in a asterix and then allows the comment to post.
A site owner wants to build the user base and draw in new readers. Not make them leave in disgust. Unless a site owner just doesn’t care about their site then they will protect it no matter what a commenter votes for.
Such images can get the website into trouble which is why they are banned
hey i voted for talking only about games, but i dont mind, in the end we said what we wanted to say and now we talk about games, free speech wins in the end. When you have no reason to be prevented from talking about something, people will talk about it and move on.

Not sure if my response will post because it’s pending, but I made a point about bringing up your own opinion on various things on the site, and either being told your opinion is sh*t or that you’re an SJW, etc because you don’t care about politics and just care about video games as games.
