ARK Survival Evolved feature 2

Take a look at ARK: Survival Evolved’s The Island in Unreal Engine 5.1

A few days ago, Studio Wildcard tweeted an image that hinted at the first ARK coming to Unreal Engine 5. And, as you may have guessed, some artists decided to showcase what such a remaster/remake could look like.

The most promising of these fan remasters/remakes is the following one from Greg Coulthard. Greg has decided to bring to Unreal Engine 5.1 a portion of ARK’s The Island map. This map features also features a number of dinosaurs, and looks quite cool. And, to be honest, this perfectly shows what you can expect from an Unreal Engine 5.1 remaster of the first ARK game (if it ever happens).

Again, and apart from that tweet, we don’t have any additional details about ARK: Survival Evolved coming to UE5. For what it’s worth, the second ARK game will be using Unreal Engine 5.

Lastly, and speaking of Unreal Engine 5, we suggest downloading these other fan remakes. For instance, you can download a Superman UE5 Demo, a Halo 3: ODST Remake, and a Spider-Man UE 5 Demo. There is also a fan remake of Halo: Combat Evolved’s “Halo” level. And then we have The Lord of the Rings: Conquest Reimagined in Unreal Engine 5 and The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time in Unreal Engine 5.

Enjoy!

Imagining Ark 2 In Unreal Engine 5 - The Island

  1. My gaming PC (from 2021) with RTX 3070 can’t even run properly the original game, so I don’t want to imagine how badly this one will run…

    1. Because the game is simply trash!! No hardware can run the garbage because it doesn’t run for anything on any setup.

Garbage game with garbage performance on top of it.

Seriously never understood why anyone wanted to play this crap to begin with….

  2. When it stops being just a video game I might play it again. In the game this put a pipe to the water and water comes out the other end, but while practical for a game it’s not good enough to match the visuals. Saying it’s going to get ported to or rebuilt in unreal 5 doesn’t address those mechanics that could before from unreal 5. Pick up bucket. Take bucket to the water. Push the bucket into the water until submerged. Pull bucket filled with water and carry it to a well you dug out of the ground. Or get a mechanical pump, or train your tames to do menial tasks.. not sure if there’s wildmen npcs in the game yet. Fill well until full before that water in there dries up. Too much detail? Collect berries in the bucket. Until the bucket is full. Retain the autocollect within range of the character of needed.. but take bucket to hopper and dump it into the hopper add water from well or water source. Kill a creature. Remove muscle tissue, bones and viscera. Remove skins to make hides. Let some of the meat rot, add to fermenting berries. See the cool animations of berries tumbling out of bucket. See creators running around collecting them and eating them until their hunger is satisfied. Etc. it’s like they put so much attention into the mechanics of things you’ll be repeatedly then halfassed them because you’re expected to grind those activities rather than do them to some rational degree. Unreal 5 could change that but I doubt devs or players care at this point for more realism.

  3. It’s funny that the original game never “evolved” to be something that actually runs properly….

Game is trash and always has been. I freaking cringe whenever someone tells me that’s what they’re playing.

Top of the tier hardware and the game never manages to perform at all properly. Completely broken if you ask me.

Still wondering why anyone would want to attempt this in the first place.

  4. I love the new visuals there is definitely a huge improvement but i really think they need to get better Ai or whatever it is for the movement On the Rex it almost seemed robot like i would love to see a little more lifelike movement.
