New trailer for action RPG, The Surge, focuses on combat mechanics

Focus Home Interactive has released a new trailer for The Surge. In this new action RPG, players can make use of vertical and horizontal attacks, as well as strike power, to target and dismember specific limbs, so they can loot what they cut.

According to the dev team, looting upgrades for your exo-suit is key to progression, and surviving challenging physically based combat situations is a matter of skill.

Positioning and speed will be also vital, so players should make use of their exo-enhanced dodges, blocks, ducks and jumps to avoid attacks while managing stamina, ensuring they’re always in the right place to strike the limb they want, or to avoid a potentially damning blow.

It’s worth noting that the rules of combat apply to both you and your enemy. As such, if you get hit in an unarmored limb, you’ll go down faster.

Throughout your journey you’ll also be assisted by your industrial drone, with abilities once used for CREO’s industrial needs. Players can shield themselves, or Burn, knock down, pull, and blast enemies at their will as they continue to fight in melee.
