Skyrim Riverwood in Unreal Engine 5

Here’s Skyrim’s Riverwood in Unreal Engine 5 with Lumen & Nanite

YouTube’s “Leo Torres” has shared a new video, showcasing Skyrim’s Riverwood in Unreal Engine 5 with Lumen and Nanite. This will give you an idea of what a remake of Skyrim would look like in UE5. So, let’s take a look at it.

This video is part of a project to create a more realistic and lore-accurate version of Tamriel. The environment in this remake has 16 times more detail than the original.

The artist created this scene in Unreal Engine 5.4 using an RTX 3090. Torres combined third-party models with custom assets made in Blender. He used Nanite for all models and plants. Plus, Lumen was used for the lighting and reflections.

If you are a Skyrim fan, I highly recommend watching the video. From what I can see, this scene can match the quality of modern-day games. So, it will be interesting to see whether TES6 will be able to match these visuals.

I also recommend watching the other Skyrim UE5 videos the artist has shared. Thus far, Torres has recreated MarkarthBlackreachWhiterunSolitudeWinterholdFalkreathRiftenWindhelmMorthal and Dawnstar. So, in a way, you get to see what a full proper remake of Skyrim could look like. Pretty neat.

The only downside here is that these recreations are not available to the public. So no. You can’t download them and run them. These are created for portfolio purposes. Still, they look amazing. So, be sure to check them out.

Speaking of Unreal Engine 5, you should also check out the following fan projects. For instance, you can find some faithful remasters of Dark Souls and Dark Souls 3, which are super cool. A few months ago, we also shared an amazing remake of Toy Story 2. Then there’s this cool fan remake of Metal Gear Solid. Let’s also not forget this fantastic fan remake of STALKER that’s worth a look. Oh, and don’t miss the Grand Theft Auto 6 fan concept in UE5; it’s pretty impressive. In February 2024, we also shared fan remakes of Grand Theft Auto San Andreas and GTA 3, as well as an Uncharted fan game. We also have a fan remaster of Unreal Gold in UE5. You should also watch the full-on remake video for Final Fantasy 9, and this HD-2D Fan Remake for Xenogears.

Need for Speed Carbon and Tony Hawk’s Underground have also received some cool remakes. Oh, and there is a fan remake of Tomb Raider The Last Revelation, featuring Angelina Jolie and Christoph Walz. And if that’s not enough, there are fan remakes for Star Wars: Republic CommandoDeath StrandingFallout 4Grand Theft Auto 4Need for Speed: Most WantedFallout 4Resident Evil 1, and Silent Hill 3’s Lakeside Amusement Park. Finally, there is this Studio Ghibli-like teaser for Zelda: Ocarina of Time in Unreal Engine 5.

Enjoy and stay tuned for more!

  1. No point in these videos could of might be should off but wont be may as well wtch a cgi game trailer that shows nothing on what the game will be like.

    1. UE5 is actually pretty good when considering visuals but there is a problem with 1% fps in most games and diffrent types of stutter.

UE5 games run pretty descent on my ryzen 5800x3d and 3080 ti in 4k with DLSS but FG is needed to make them somewhat smooth, especially in dense urban areas in open or semi open world games.

      1. You don't consider that a problem? The fact that you can't play at native resolution even with a high end GPU?

Also, disable the TAA in UE5 and it looks like garbage. The visuals appearing "good" is nothing more than a temporally smeared illusion. And what about those who can't stand TAA or who legitimately get ill because of it (it triggers certain types of seizures from what I understand)? Most games these days don't even seem to have an "Off" for the Anti-Aliasing, and many make it impossible to force it off in config files, especially UE5 games that rely on temporal upscaling.

UE5 is nothing but a nightmare for many of us.

    2. UE5 is going to be the death of creativity in gaming. Everything looking like the same hyperrealistic slop where it'll be easier to train 3-month contract developers on UE5 than any in-house game engine.

    3. Yeah, unoptimized & stutter fest aka the ue5's "great" hallmarks of how much the engine and the vast majority of its devs have fallen = no thx

  2. no thx with all the UE5 unoptimized games releasing nowadays,
I allmost cringe when hearing UE5
edit:but alas if u want to work in gaming atm this is one way to go

  3. Here's another article about yet another pointless UE5 techdemo. I'm starting to think Epic is paying DSOG by the article.

  4. Slow news day, Pops? Have to meet your quota for articles so you go to the 14y/o game with mods AGAIN?

  5. Honestly slightly modded skyrim with either ENB or Reshade looks and play way better than this same boring UE5 look. I am so tired of looking at UE5 games. Most devs working on those games have no passion nor given enough time to optimize or make it look unique
