Modder ‘nimbul’ has released an amazing new mod for Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 that attempts to enhance its Global Illumination. By default, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 uses CRYENGINE’s SVOGI. And, with this mod, you can take it to the next level.
Going into more details, this mod enhances specific aspects of the global illumination. For instance, some areas appear too dark when they should be more illuminated. So, by using this mod, you will improve those areas. Plus, the mod aims to increase the amount of light bouncing from surrounding materials, allowing them to reflect more colored light. Additionally, it attempts to minimize light leakage.
You can download the mod from this link. At the end of the article, you can also find some comparison screenshots. The vanilla version is on the left, whereas the modded version is on the right.
To install the mod, you’ll simply have to extract the ZIP file into your game’s mod folder. And that’s it.
In case you experience any strobing, flickering, or pulsing lighting effects, you should disable AsyncCompute. You can do this by adding the following line in the mod.cfg file.
This mod should be compatible with the HD Texture Packs we’ve shared. So, right now, you can download packs that improve the textures of NPCs and environments. Needless to say, I highly recommend using them as these packs will improve the game’s visuals.
Another mod you can download is this one that allows you to save everywhere. However, this GI Mod appears to be incompatible with the Async Compute Mod. Or at least that’s what “nimbul” hinted above. So, make sure to keep that in mind before trying it.
From the looks of it, KCD2 has sold incredibly well. In just one day, the game passed one million copies. It also hit over 250K concurrent players on Steam. Warhorse Studios has also revealed that the game passed two million sales in less than two weeks. The game also runs great on PC.
Enjoy and stay tuned for more!
