Here’s Death Stranding with Reshade ReSTIR GI & Ray Tracing Ambient Occlusion, running at 8K on NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090

Although PC gamers won’t be able to play Death Stranding 2, which is coming to PS5 later this week, they can re-experience the first game with Reshade Ray Tracing. To give an idea of what you can achieve with it, Beyond Dreams shared the following video. So, let’s take a look at it.

Beyond Dreams used Complete RT to add ray-traced Global Illumination and ray-traced Ambient Occlusion. He also improved the game’s Volumetric Fog and Color Grading. Plus, he added a filmic Depth of Field effect. The grass has also been improved as we get better shadows.

To get playable framerates at 8K, Beyond Dreams used NVIDIA DLSS 4. Sadly, though, we don’t know whether he used DLSS 4 Performance, Balanced, or Quality Mode. Still, with DLSS 4, an NVIDIA RTX 5090 appears to be able to provide a smooth gaming experience.

To get smooth framerates at 8K resolution, Beyond Dreams used NVIDIA DLSS 4. We don’t know which DLSS 4 mode he picked — Performance, Balanced, or Quality. Still, with DLSS 4, the NVIDIA RTX 5090 appears to be able to run it smoothly at 8K.

For those who did not know, Complete RT is one of the best Ray Tracing Reshades available right now. This mod has one of the most advanced screen-space Ray Tracing Shaders, letting you add GI, AO, Matte, and Glossy Reflections to your games. It also offers Color Grading, dynamic Depth of Field, and an immersive Camera Mod.

Like I said before, Ray Tracing with Reshade is not as good as real, built-in Ray Tracing. Reshade uses only the info on your screen to simulate the Ray Tracing effects. Because of that, the results aren’t as accurate as the Ray Tracing used in triple-A games. Still, it does count as a type of Ray Tracing, and it can make a game look better.

The good news is that you can download Complete RT for free from its Discord server. Once you have installed it, you can get similar results to what you’ll see in the video. Not only that, but you can use Complete RT to enhance the visuals of other games, too.

Just to be clear, Complete RT will NOT make Death Stranding on PC look as good as Death Stranding 2. So don’t expect it to look like a brand-new game. However, it will still make the graphics look better than before.

Speaking of Death Stranding 2, I think it will come to PC in 2025. That’s what Kojima Productions did with the first game. Since the first Death Stranding sold well on PC, it makes sense for them to do the same with the sequel.

It’s also worth noting that Death Stranding performed incredibly well on PC. Not only did it look amazing, but it ran smoothly on a wide range of PC systems. So, it’s likely that the PC version of Death Stranding 2 will be just as polished when it comes out in 2025.

Enjoy and stay tuned for more!
