Toshiba has demonstrated the first games, running at a 4K ( 3840×2160 ) resolution on its 4K Quad-FHD screen. As you may have expected, the company used a powerful PC with a high-end GPU. The good news for all PC gamers is that both AMD’s 7970 and Nvidia’s GTX680 are capable of running games on such resolutions at 30fps. Naturally, a lot of people will wonder why do you need this pricey TV when you can already downsample your games. Well, Toshiba has to promote its screens (one way or another) and since a lot of gamers are not aware of downsampling, they’re taking advantage of it. And although there are rumors about PS4 supporting 4K resolutions, don’t expect its games to run natively at those. Enjoy the demonstration below! Nvidia has released a new set of beta drivers for its GeForce graphics cards. GeForce 304.79 introduces a new anti-aliasing technique called TXAA. NVIDIA TXAA is new film-style anti-aliasing technique designed specifically to reduce temporal aliasing (crawling and flickering in motion) through a combination of hardware AA, custom CG film style AA resolve, and a temporal filter. We should note that this technique is only available for the GeForce GTX 600-series Kepler-based GPUs. There is no doubt that real-time raytracing and global illumination are ‘the future’ of gaming graphics. And we are happy – and astounded – to report that Nvidia has showcased a real-time raytracing tech demo at this year’s GTC 2012. The result of that implementation is sweet as hell, so be sure to check the following video. Reflections and refractions are as accurate as they can get and this tech demo shows what we can expect from next-generation graphics. Enjoy the video, courtesy of TheVerge. Last week, we informed you about a big announcement that would be made on April 28th. Back then, we predicted that the announcement would be about an Nvidia dual-card and it appears we were right. Nvidia revealed yesterday their high-end dual card, called GTX690. GTX 690 consists of 2 Kepler GPUs and uses a 10-phase power supply to allow maximum overclocking. Its 300 watts of GPU is kept cool with dual water-vapor chambers directly on the GPUs, nickel-plated fins to prevent tarnishing/oxidation, and a fan spinning at 3000 RPM. The GTX 690 also uses an aluminum frame with all components bolted down to create a duct of air flow. Continue reading Nvidia Officially Announces GTX 690; the fastest GPU card on the market→
We are living in exciting times. Although GTX680 is a damn beast, we could very well see a dual-GPU topping it as Nvidia is preparing for a special announcement at GeForce LAN / NVIDIA Gaming Festival (NGF) 2012 in Shanghai, China. The company has revealed an image that shows a new card and if you can recall, that image was leaked a while ago. Not only that, but earlier yesterday, Nvidia sent out a crowbar labeled with the GeForce logo to the guys at Hardwareheaven.
