Nvidia’s ShadowPlay Got Leaked – Record Your Playthroughs The Nvidia Way

Nvidia

Nvidia’s ShadowPlay service is planned for a worldwide beta launch tomorrow, however it seems that the application got leaked a day prior to that date. Spotted by NeoGAF’s member ‘Sethos’, this application lets you record your playthrough via Nvidia’s GPUs. The upside of this method is that the performance hit of it is significantly smaller than the one witnessed with FRAPS. The downside is that ShadowPlay records up to 20 minutes and does not provide a RAW file. Continue reading Nvidia’s ShadowPlay Got Leaked – Record Your Playthroughs The Nvidia Way

Nvidia Tech Videos Try To Illustrate The Difference Between G-Sync & V-Sync

Nvidia G-SYNC

During its recent press event, Nvidia tried to illustrate the difference between G-Sync and V-Sync. As you may already know, G-Sync cannot be captured via regular cameras. Therefore, Nvidia claimed that a perfect V-Sync video (constant 60fps v-sync) is what G-Sync basically offers, even when the actual in-game framerate drops at 40fps. In order to showcase the huge difference, the green team compared the simulated G-Sync experience with a ‘real-world’ V-Sync experience, and PCGamesHardware was able to captured two examples from this comparison. Enjoy! Continue reading Nvidia Tech Videos Try To Illustrate The Difference Between G-Sync & V-Sync

AMD-ATI v2

And the day has come. AMD has lifhted the NDA for Radeon R9 290X, and a lot of reviews have popped up. Unfortunately for our green friends, AMD has got everyone by surprise and presented a GPU that offers similar performance to Nvidia’s Titan card for a significant lower price. Nvidia’s Tom Petersen: We don’t expect G-Sync to work with other GPUs anytime soon

Nvidia G-SYNC

Nvidia’s G-Sync technology seems to be the next big thing according to both reporters and developers that attended the green team’s recent Montreal event. However, it seems that customers will have to rely solely on Nvidia’s GPUs in order to enjoy this new tech, as G-Sync won’t work with other GPUs in the foreseeable future. John Carmack: Nvidia’s OpenGL extensions rival Mantle, 8GBs on consoles not a significant change

John Carmack

Earlier yesterday, John Carmack shared his thoughts on AMD’s Mantle. During Nvidia’s Montreal event, Carmack claimed that although he would be tempted to use Mantle, he would not do such a thing at this point. Carmack claimed that it’s not stupid – for AMD – to attempt something like that, however he believed that Sony and Microsoft would not embrace it. But why is Carmack against this new API? This Is The Most Awkward Moment In Nvidia’s Montreal Event – Fan Asks A Question About AMD’s Mantle

AMD vs Nvidia

Okay, we knew this was going to happen. It was just a matter of time. During Nvidia’s event, a fan asked John Carmack, Tim Sweeney and Johan Andersson their opinion about AMD’s Mantle. This was the weirdest question asked, and all three programmers felt a bit… well… uncomfortable. Nvidia Announces New G-SYNC Technology – John Carmack, Tim Sweeney & Johan Andersson Together For The First Time

Nvidia G-SYNC

Nvidia has just announced a new technology for PC gaming called G-SYNC. G-SYNC is basically a chip that will be implemented in new monitors from ASUS, Benq, Philips, ViewSonic are other partners, and aims to eliminate tearing, VSync stutter, and added input lag. In addition, the monitors powered by G-SYNC will offer better monitor performance, and the most popular models will be running at 144Hz. Unreal Engine 4 Will Natively Support PhysX 3.0, Launch Next-Gen Titles Will Support It

Unreal Engine 4 v4

Great news for all gamers as Unreal Engine 4 will natively support the latest version of the PhysX SDK, PhysX 3.0. That applies only to the PC build of Unreal Engine 4. As Nvidia’s Andrew told us, UE4 PC has native PhysX 3.0 middleware. Andrew also claimed that next-gen consoles – that will be obviously coming to PC too – PC titles will support PhysX 3.0 (Editor’s note: Andrew contacted us and clarified things. He was not referring to console titles but to next-gen PC games such as The Witcher 3. Apologies for that). PhysX 3.0 features better multi-threaded capabilities, something that will benefit both Nvidia and AMD users. Nvidia – Next-Gen Visuals Powered By Global Illumination & Flame Effects Rivaling Those Of Deep Down

Nvidia GI

We’ve been constantly asking developers in our past interviews whether their games were supporting Global Illumination. You see, we strongly believe that GI – as well as Ray Tracing or Path Tracing – are the future of PC (and next-gen consoles) graphics. And thankfully, Nvidia has presented some new GI techniques during its Montreal event earlier today. Not only that, but the company has also unveiled some new Flame effects that put Deep Down’s flame effects to shame. Instead of presenting 2D flames with lots of particles, Nvidia implemented some stunning volumetric flame effects that can interact with objects and the environment. You can find videos from the aforementioned techniques below, so go ahead and take a look at the future of gaming graphics!
