Torment: Tides of Numenera – First Screenshot Released

Great news for all Torment fans as inXile Entertainment has released the first screenshot of Torment: Tides of Numenera. According to the development team, this new Torment game aims for a 2.5D style. inXile aims to use 2D pre-rendered backgrounds with 3D characters and 3D lighting (that will be grounding the characters in the scene through dynamic lighting and some shadow casting). The game’s concept sounds interesting, so it remains to be seen whether inXile will be able to deliver. This isn’t an April’s fools joke, so go ahead and enjoy the screenshot after the jump. Torment: Tides of Numenera’s Kickstarter is quite a success and has already been funded (actually it was funded mere hours after the launch of the campaign). With 14 days left to it, inXile Entertainment has been wondering what its ultimate stretch goal could be. And since inXile is so friendly with Obsidian, these two companies came up with a great plan. New Torment Game Raises Almost $1 Million & Gets Funded In Less Than 12 Hours

Torment: Tides of Numenera may well be the most successful Kickstarter campaign ever, as inXile’s upcoming thematic successor to Planescape: Torment has managed to raise $900K and get funded in less than 10 hours. This clearly shows how Kickstarters can work for some companies, and – like pretty much everyone – we’re glad that we’ll be getting a new Torment game. Torment fans, get ready to wet your pants as inXile has launched the Kickstarter campaign for its new Torment game, Torment: Tides of Numenera. Torment: Tides of Numenera is a story-driven CRPG crafted in the tradition of Planescape: Torment & set in the world of Monte Cook’s Numenera, will be DRM-free, and will be developed in the Unity engine for PC (Windows), Mac, and Linux platforms. Brian Fargo and inXile Entertainment have released the first proper footage of their upcoming isometric sequel to the first ever post-apocalyptic computer RPG, Wasteland. Wasteland 2 promises to feature a strong storyline in which players will have to make painful decisions, and a storyline that will allow for maximum re-playability. The game is powered by the Unity Engine and with the exception of the not implemented yet Mini Map and some placeholder sounds and portraits, this demo will show you what you can expect to see in Wasteland 2. inXile’s Torment FB page has confirmed that Mark Morgan will compose the soundtrack for the new Torment game, that will be called Torment: Tides of Numenera. Torment: Tides of Numenera will be a character-driven RPG set in Monte Cook’s Numenera, that will continue the thematic legacy of Planescape: Torment and will ask gamers a simple question; what does one life matter? Okay, I’m bit embarassed for not informing everyone about the planned sequel to – perhaps the best western RPG – Planescape: Torment. Yes, Torment will be getting a sequel that will be set in the Numenera setting – a pen and paper RPG setting that had been funded through Kickstarter. Wasteland 2 – First Screenshot Revealed

Brian Fargo has unveiled the first Wasteland 2 screenshot that can be viewed below. Wasteland 2 will be using the latest version of the Unity Engine. Unity Engine has been chosen because it offers Windows/Mac/Linux support, support and expertise available from vendor and in community, adaptability for player modding, and 3D rendering, pathing, AI, physics, character animation tools. A couple of days ago, we informed you about inXile’s plans to use the Unity Engine on their upcoming sequel to the classic ‘Wasteland’ game.
