A couple of days ago, we informed about the Cease & Desist letter that Warner Bros sent to the MERP (Middle Earth Role Playing) modding team. As we said back then, Warner should not be sending such letters to modders as they are not creating commercial projects and they will not – obviously – earn any money from it. In fact, these guys are doing everyone a favour of creating such an ambitious mod. Naturally, the modding team will not give away 8 years of hard work so easily. Man, imagine how things would be if we didn’t have all those pasionate modders. After fixing a lot of issues in Skyrim and introducing some CPU optimizations, a new team has focused on the game’s recently released DLC. This is a comprehensive bugfixing mod for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim – Dawnguard, which means that the goal of the Unofficial Dawnguard Patch (aka UDGP) is to eventually fix every bug with Dawnguard – that was not officially resolved by the developers – to the limits of the Creation Kit and community-developed tools, in one easy-to-install package. And another mod bites the dust. MERP (aka Middle Earth Role Playing) was a mod that was meant to bring The Lord Of The Rings universe to Skyrim. It was a promising mods and like most promising mods, it got cancelled. No no no, the team did not abandon its project. The OpenMW team has released a new version of its Open Morrowind Mod. This version introduces a new player control system, potion usage, a Main Menu, and a multitude of fixes and improvements. OpenMW is an attempt to re-implement the popular role playing game Morrowind. It aims to be a fully playable, open source implementation of the game and you must own Morrowind to use OpenMW. According to its press release, with Skyrim’s newest game add-on, Hearthfire, players can purchase land and build your own home from the ground up – from a simple one-room cottage to a sprawling compound complete with an armory, alchemy laboratory, stable, garden, and more.
