TES III Morrowind Fan Remake in Unreal Engine 5.6

The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind Unreal Engine 5.6 Fan Remaster Released

The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind fans, here is something special for you today. Greg Coulthard has released a new version of his fan remaster of The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind in Unreal Engine 5.6. This remaster of Morrowind is free, and you can download it right now.

For those unaware, Coulthard has ported the entire map of Morrowind to UE5. All the assets used here are from the original game. As Coulthard has noted, his goal wasn’t to upgrade the game’s graphics. Instead, he wanted to see whether or not it was possible to port Morrowind’s map to UE5 and how it would look in it.

So, I went ahead and downloaded this fan remaster in order to try it. I’ve tested on my main gaming PC system, which is equipped with an AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D, 32GB of DDR5 at 6000Mhz, and an NVIDIA RTX 5090. I also used Windows 10 64-bit, and the GeForce 581.80 driver.

The remaster of Morrowind in UE5.6 runs with a minimum of 90FPS and an average of 110FPS at 1440p/Ultra Settings. At Native 4K/Ultra settings, I was getting a minimum of 51FPS and an average of 70FPS. I was able to get over 90FPS at all times by dropping the settings to Epic.

Sadly, the project does not support NVIDIA DLSS 4 or AMD FSR 3.0. Moreover, it appears that there are some resolution issues in Fullscreen Window. To get proper resolutions, you’ll have to switch to Fullscreen. I had not done that in my video, which is why you see framerates over 100FPS. That’s not Native 4K.

What’s cool here is that the project comes with a couple of HD Texture Packs. As such, you can get a better image quality than what a mere port of Morrowind can look like in UE5. Not only that, but I was not getting any stutters even when I was flying around. There weren’t any pop-in issues as the remaster uses Nanite. Plus, Lumen does the heavy lifting when it comes to its lighting.

As I said, this remaster will let you explore the world of Morrowind. It does not have any quests or NPCs. So, don’t expect a fully fledged game. Think of it as a tech demo.

Those interested can go ahead and download it from Greg’s Discord server. Once you join, you will find the download links at the top of the Discord bar. I’m not sharing the MEGA or Google Drive download links as Greg deserves more followers for his work.

Speaking of Unreal Engine 5, I recommend trying out these other free fan-made demos. You can grab a Superman UE5 Demo, a Halo 3: ODST Remake, and a Spider-Man UE5 Demo. There’s also a fan-made version of STALKER in Unreal Engine 5. If you love old-school FPS games, you should check out this remake of the classic FPS Blood in Epic’s engine. For Mario fans, we have this cool Super Mario Galaxy Tech Demo in Unreal Engine 5.

And that’s not all. There is a cool remake of Halo: Combat Evolved’s Halo level in UE5 that you can download. Or how about this free Attack on Titan game? Then we have the fan remakes for Dino Crisis 2 and MediEvil 2. Plus, there is an amazing fan remake of Sonic Adventure 2, called Sonic Adventure 2 Redux. Zelda fans can get this fan remake of Ocarina of Time. Oh, and let’s not forget the amazing ports of Skyrim and Oblivion.

Owners of high-end GPUs can also try these three tech demos. The first one features a Witcher-like environment. The second shows off a Rome Italian Town.  The third is the Venice Tech Demo we shared a few days ago. We also have a demo of King’s Field 2 in UE5, as well as a remake of Konami’s canceled PT. Finally, we have The Lord of the Rings: Conquest Reimagined in Unreal Engine 5, a remake of Flappy Bird, a demo for Need for Speed: Underground 2, and a Diablo 2 Remake Demo. They all look awesome, so be sure to give them a try.

Enjoy and stay tuned for more!
