Wolfire Games has released a new video that showcases the changes that have been made to the latest alpha version of Overgrowth. This week, David Rosen added a ‘case error’ alert and a ‘process pool’ toggle to config. Most of you won’t even bother with these features but let us tell you that they are really importan for developers and modders. Overgrowth looks great but we feel that the game has hit a wall or something, as there hasn’t been any major updates lately. Wolfire Games seems to be polishing various features but what we want to see is something more than an environment with some bunnies fighting each other. Spellforce 2: Faith in Destiny, the second expansion for Spellforce 2, is finally here with us. This expansion was announced back in 2009 but was delayed by JoWood due to funding issues. After various delays, the expansion was slated for a March 2011 release but then, JoWood decided to delay it indefinitely. Nordic Games then stepped in and offered their help in funding and completing it. Fast forward a whole year and here we are today, with Spellforce 2: Faith in Destiny finally being released as a standalone game. Relic and THQ have unveiled – via the game’s FB page – two new screenshots for Company of Heroes 2. Company of Heroes 2 utilizes Relic Entertainment’s state of the art proprietary Essence 3.0 Engine to bring new technological advancements to the strategy genre in the form of innovative Dynamic Battle Tactics, increased graphical fidelity and new environmental destruction, ultimately putting the player in control with new Commander Abilities. Bladeghost, creator of the promising Prometheus mod/map for Doom 3, has released some new screenshots and videos from it. Keep in mind that this project is being made by a single map and it’s still in early stage. This map has potential, however it’s really obvious that it still needs a lot of work. Better late than never I guess. Piranha Bytes has released a demo for the PC version of Risen 2: Dark Waters that can be downloaded from Steam. Risen 2 is an interesting action RPG, although we expected more from Piranha Bytes. Oh, and the game has been dumbed down – compared to the first Risen. And the combat system is not as deep or polished as we’d hoped to. In other words, it’s not up to Piranha Bytes’ standards and you can try it for yourselves to see whether we are right or not. Remember that mind-blowing CryEngine 3 video that showcased some amazing, revolutionary soft-body physics? Well, BeamNG has been hard at work and will present – in approximately two weeks – a new video from the latest build of their physics system.
