Retrospective Video – The Evolution Of Real-Time PC Graphics

3D Mark 2001
I really love this kind of videos. YouTube’s “PerfectHandVideos” has created an amazing retrospective video, showcasing the evolution of real-time PC graphics. This video shows off some of the benchmark tools and video-games that were released from 2000 to 2012, and even though we’re talking about a 2-hour video, we highly recommend watching it. Who can forget the Matrix scene from 3D Mark 2001? Or the Nature benchmark that showcased an Oblivion-like environment, something that most of us thought impossible at that time. So grab your pop-corn and off you go! Continue reading Retrospective Video – The Evolution Of Real-Time PC Graphics

Museum of the Microstar
Unity held a DX11 contest, in which Museum of the Microstar has managed to win it with its impressive particles system. According to its description, the Museum of the Microstar is a Tech Demo and Interactive Narrative Short by RUST, Josh Ols, and Arthur Brusee. The piece demonstrates DX11 Tessellation Shaders, GPU Simulated Particles, and a physically?based shading model, in a massive sci?fi museum of mankind’s disastrous quest towards technological advancement. We’ll let the video talk for itself, but this kind of particles could be achievable with next-gen consoles. Or at least that’s what we hope so.  Enjoy!
