The Elder Scrolls 6 targets a 2026 release date according to Microsoft

The Elder Scrolls 6 will be the next game that Bethesda will develop (after Starfield). And, surprisingly enough, Microsoft expects this game to come out in 2026.

As Microsoft’s lawyer specifically said during the ongoing “Microsoft vs FTC” trial.

“Could I clarify one issue that council raised with you, when you were asking about Zenimax and asked him to find a game that was most similar to Xbox, he mentioned Elder Scrolls. That is incorrect. There are two Elder Scrolls games, one is online called Elder Scrolls Online — that is a multiplayer game, it is on PlayStation today. The game he’s talking about Elder Scrolls 16… the projected release is 2026 as a single-player game. It is not anywhere similar to Call of Duty, which as you know is multiplayer and multi-platform.”

Bethesda’s Todd Howard has stated that The Elder Scrolls 6 is at least five years away from now. So yeah, I wouldn’t really count on that 2026 release date. Also, Elder Scrolls 16? That’s right, that’s what Microsoft’s lawyer said. However, we all know that he basically meant TES 6 and not TES 16. Unless he was a secret fan of Final Fantasy 16 which came out a few days ago, and somehow made that mistake.

Starfield releases on September 6th. My guess is that once it’s out, Bethesda will be focusing on enhancing its experience. After all, this is a brand new IP that will most likely make millions. Also, since this is a Bethesda game, it might need a few patches. So no, I don’t see Bethesda shifting gears immediately for The Elder Scrolls 6.

If I had to guess, I’d say that The Elder Scrolls 6 will release in 2029. That 2026 release date that Microsoft’s lawyer mentioned is most likely something to appease the company’s shareholders and nothing more. There is no way in hell this game will come out in three years.

Stay tuned for more!
