Palworld feature-2

Palworld has sold one million copies in just 8 hours [UPDATE: 2 million in 24 hours]

Pocketpair released its “Pokemon with guns” game, Palworld, in Steam Early Access. And, in just 8 hours, the game has sold over one million copies.

Palworld is a game about living a slow life with mysterious creatures “Pal” or throwing yourself into life-and-death battles with poachers. Players can make Pals fight, breed, help with farming, or work in factories. Additionally, they can sell them off or even slaughter them to eat. Basically, think of it as Pokemon with guns.

As the developers noted, the game’s core systems, such as monster catching, battles, exploration, building and crafting, are already complete. Its Early Access build will also have more than 100 monsters, a vast open world, over 350 items, and more than 70 types of buildings.

From what I’ve seen, Palworld does not have a campaign mode. The game focuses on case building, crafting, and raising your pals. So, don’t expect a story-driven alternative to Pokemon. That’s not what Palworld is.

To run the game, PC gamers will need an Intel i5-3570K 3.4 GHz with 16GB of RAM and an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050. Pocketpair recommends using an Intel i9-9900K 3.6 GHz with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070. The game will also require 40GB of free disk space. Plus, it will not offer an offline mode.

We’ve been telling you that there is a huge Pokemon crowd on PC. And the success of Palworld is proof of that. Now imagine what would happen if Nintendo released an official Pokemon game on PC.

Now while this is great news for Pocketpair, I won’t be playing Palworld. After all, I’m more of an SP player. Still, Pocketpair seized a great opportunity here, and that gamble paid off. So kudos to the team.

Stay tuned for more!
