ChillyRoom has just announced a new single-player action-adventure RPG, called Loulan: The Cursed Sand. Loulan: The Cursed Sand will be released on both PC and PS5, and below you can find its debut gameplay trailer.
Loulan: The Cursed Sand is an action RPG set on the ancient Silk Road in western China. You play as the Cursed Sand, a skeleton warrior with the power to control sand. Your mission is to explore the lost kingdom of Loulan, fight powerful enemies, and search for your beloved princess.
Players can freely switch between bone form and sand form, each offering different fighting styles and story moments. You’ll face tough melee battles from a top-down view, taking on many enemies at once. The terrain, enemy types, and combat system all work together to test your skills and strategy. You’ll also gain special sand powers to solve puzzles, explore detailed levels, and try out different fighting styles and tactics.
From what I can see, the game will be using Unreal Engine 5. Or at least that’s the vibes I got from the trailer. Since this is a top-down action RPG, I hope the devs will do something to minimize the traversal stutters that plague most UE5 games. The trailer felt silky smooth, so let’s hope that the rest of the game will run like this.
There is currently no ETA on when Loulan: The Cursed Sand will come out. Naturally, though, we’ll be sure to keep you posted.
