This Fallout New Vegas Mod Adds Physically-Based Vehicles

Modder ‘Balebandr0’ has released a cool new mod for Fallout: New Vegas. This mod adds new, realistic vehicles to the game, replacing the old ones with high-quality models. These new vehicles use materials that look and feel more realistic. So, let’s take a look at what this mod has to offer.

As said, the mod brings in new vehicle models with realistic materials. These vehicles come with LOD models, destroyed versions, DLC support, and TTW. The mod also adds a drivable Highwayman car. Not only that but it can also improve the desert landscapes.

In theory, this mod will work wonderfully with the upcoming RTX Remix Mod. RTX Remix adds full Ray Tracing/Path Tracing effects, and it requires physically-based materials for best results. So, by using this mod alongside RTX Remix, you’ll be able to get an amazing image quality. Again, in theory. From what we know, the RTX Remix Mod for Fallout: New Vegas is still in WIP. In March 2024, we shared a video from it. So, be sure to check it out.

You can go ahead and download the mod from this link. At the end of the article, you can also find some comparison screenshots. The vanilla vehicles are on the left, whereas the modded ones are on the right. These screenshots will give you an idea of what you can expect from this mod. Thus, we highly recommend viewing them.

If you are into Fallout: New Vegas, you can also try these other mods for it. For instance, this mod adds real-time reflections. Another one changes over 1,000 functions to make the game run smoother. Oh, and there’s a mod that reduces landscape texture seams. Plus, there’s a mod to make the game’s characters even smarter. Another must-have mod is this one which improves collision accuracy, and fixes/optimizes meshes. And if you love quests, there’s a mod that gives you an endless supply of new ones. Let’s also not forget Visuals Improved Content Expanded Mod. This mod fills the surroundings of Vegas to make it feel more like a real city.

There are also some cool fan-made expansions for New Vegas. Four of them are being made as we speak. These are Fallout: Broken CityFallout Van buren RemakeFallout: Nuevo Mexico and Star Wars Open Worlds. On the other hand, we have these DLC-sized mods that you can grab and play right now. These fan expansion mods are Fallout New CaliforniaFallout: Free Cheyenne DemoFallout New Vegas: Out of Bounds and Fallout The Frontier.

Enjoy and stay tuned for more!

  1. One day I'll replay New Vegas with ALL the mods enabled … my PC might go kaboom, but I'll still try

    1. I'm up to 760 (with 254 plugins) and my PC hasn't gone "boom" yet ;3
Follow the Viva New Vegas guide as your base; then add whatever you like from VNV Extended, and Mojave Express Guide (now retired but still a good reference) and/or Sal's Wasteland Supplemental (THE most complete and up to date guide). My mods are always safe choices, too ;3
If you stick with those, your game will actually run better than vanilla.

      1. A question, could you upload a torrent of your modded game? It would be really helpful and save people from the hassle of having to configure everything from scratch.

      1. Now that I read the mod description I think this mod just replaces the destroyed vehicles throughout the game. I don't think there's any functional/drivable vehicles in it.

          1. Drivable vehicle? Or drivable NPC hat?

Anyway, I didn't thoroughly read the mod description, I mostly just skimmed and tried searching for things like "driv" that might show a match for any wording about a drivable vehicle, and saw nothing relevant. If the mod does include something that I can drive through the wasteland on (even if it's mounted to an invisible NPC's head) then that would be interesting to try out.

  2. the vehicles look too clean. It's been 200+ years makes no sense for them to still have so much clean decals. There is another mod that actually adds more rust to the cars. Which makes the game look more like fallout 1 and 2.

    1. Bale does great work but his strength is in the quality of the 3D models, not texturing. All his mods have clean textures like this. While that may be his preference, I agree that it's not as good a fit for the fallout aesthetic as it could be. Nonetheless he is a talented modder and has done much for the FNV modding community. He is also a really nice guy.

    2. I like clean, I don't mind immersion.

I use an equivalent mod in FA67 that brings clean and newish feel to everything and i dig it. Played 1300 w/o so a breath of change was welcome. That and Spring in Appalachia mod. And to hell with RP!
