Modder ‘SonicB00M’ has released a new HD Texture Pack for Resident Evil 3 that overhauls all of its pre-rendered backgrounds. This mod is a must for everyone who wants to replay this classic RE game. So, let’s take a closer look at it.
To enhance the pre-rendered backgrounds, SonicB00M used AI tools. Moreover, he made thousands of manual edits to the backgrounds. The result is a game that can look crisper and more detailed than before.
Now, what’s interesting here is that this mod appears to offer better backgrounds than the Seamless HD Project. Or at least that’s what the modder claims. To prove his claims, SonicB00M shared a couple of comparisons between SHDP and RE: Enhance. And yes, it appears that RE: Enhance does a better job at upscaling the pre-rendered backgrounds.
The SHDP images appear softer than those of RE: Enhance. Not only that, but they have that “AI” look. Plus, they lack a lot of detail in numerous objects. Take the fences as an example. They look wrong. On the other hand, the fences look the way they were meant to be in RE: Enhance.
The mod is between 1-2GB in size, and you can download it from this link. It’s also compatible with the GOG version.
It’s also worth noting that SonicB00M has released a similar mod for both Resident Evil 1 and Resident Evil 2. So, you can either use those mods or the Seamless HD Project to enjoy them in 2025.
Here’s another cool mod for Resident Evil 3. This one lets you play the game as Nemesis, the big, scary monster usually chasing you. The mod gives you two fun ways to play. These are the Original Mode and the Arrange Mode. In the Original Mode, you play through the main story of Resident Evil 3, but as Nemesis instead of Jill. It’s a cool way to experience the story from a new point of view. The Arrange Mode is quite different. You control Nemesis and hunt down S.T.A.R.S. members and mercenaries. The fights change depending on what you do. Some battles might be easier, and others might be harder, based on your choices. While playing, you can also meet other survivors in Raccoon City. It’s a unique way to see the game and explore the city through Nemesis’s eyes.
Finally, you can find below some screenshots from the mod. These screenshots will give you a pretty good idea of what you can expect from it. So, be sure to check them out.
Enjoy and stay tuned for more!
