Now here is something really cool for our Spider-Man fans. A team of modders has been working on a multiplayer mod for the first Marvel’s Spider-Man game and has released a beta version of it.
Do note that this first beta build for this MP Mod is behind a Patreon wall. My guess is that the team will fully release it for free once it has addressed most of its major issues. Sadly, though, there is no ETA on when this will happen.
Right now, the mod supports up to 16 players. The mod let’s you play with your friends some of the game’s main missions. Right now, the team is working on free roam content. Once it has tweaked the game to be fun when doing side-quests, it will look into resuming its work for the main story.
Friends can see your suit mods so long as you both have the same suit mods installed. If you don’t, then the person who doesn’t have the suit mod installed will not be able to see the person with the suit. Additionally, if you use animation mods, it’s better for all players to have them installed.
This mod has been in development since August 2024. So, it took the modders an entire year to hit their beta phase. I’m just mentioning this because the full free version will not come out anytime soon. If I had to guess, I’d say we’d get it sometime in 2027 or even 2028.
Anyway, this is a really cool mod. Yes, it’s behind a Patreon wall. However, it took the team a lot of effort to implement a functional multiplayer mode. So, in a way, I understand why its first beta version is a paid mod.
