During this year’s GTC2013, Nvidia showcased some truly amazing features that might be coming to the next-generation titles. Among to those features were some stunning ocean simulation physics and FaceWorks, a technique that has been used to render and animate a human head with incredible image fidelity. According to Nvidia, the data from Debevec’s team exceeded 32 gigabytes for a few expressions of Ira (the man who was rendered) and as a result of that, even the most advanced GPUs will choke on the immensity of that. FaceWorks reduced this to a very manageable 300 megabytes. Debevec’s tech demo was running in real-time on a single Nvidia Titan card. You can view a video from that demonstration below, courtesy of YouTube’s ‘Ubergizmo’. Enjoy! Continue reading Next-Generation Features Showcased At GTC2013→

Some new – rumored – details have emerged yesterday for the fourth part of the Battlefield series, coming from the same source who was the first to leak the Battlefield 4 artwork / teaser, and who was also spot on about EA releasing a teaser trailer. In other words, this new info could be real but as with all rumors, take everything you are about to read with a grain of salt.
Now this is simply amazing. YouTube’s GhorsHammer is creating an incredible add-on for Garry’s Mod called gmDoom. According to its description, gmDoom is a partial source port of Doom integrated into Garry’s Mod 13. Assets are loaded from an IWAD, and no binary modules are required. The good news is that this add-on will be available through the Steam Workshop once bug testing is complete, which – according to the modder – should be in only a few days. You can view a video demonstration below, so make sure to give it a go! Continue reading Half Life 2 Meets Doom In This Spectacular Garry’s Mod Add-On→
Digital Extremes has released a new trailer for its free-t0-play third person title, Warframe, showcasing the PhysX effects that have been introduced to it. Nvidia owners will enjoy some new particle effects, though we have to say that we were not impressed with what Digital Extremes added. After all, we’ve seen these particular effects in both Hawken and Planetside 2, so there is nothing new or extraordinary here. Nevertheless, it’s a welcomed addition, and you can view the trailer below! Continue reading Warframe – PhysX Trailer→
We here in DSOG love Frictional Games’ titles. The first Penumbra titles were pretty cool and were focused on both horror and puzzle physics mechanics/elements. Even though they had a number of issues, there was potential for something truly great, and Amnesia – the spiritual successor of Penumbra – has proven how talented and creative this team actually is. Therefore, we’re delighted to inform you about a high-resolution texture pack that is currently under development for the second part of the Penumbra series, Penumbra: Black Plague.
