AMD has released a new beta driver for its graphics cards. The AMD Catalyst 13.8 BETA2 comes with performance improvements in Saints Row 4, Splinter Cell: Blacklist, Castlevania: Lords of Shadow and Final Fantasy XIV. In addition, frame pacing has been enabled now even on CrossFire systems and comes with improved performance in World of Warcraft, Sniper Elite, Watch Dogs, and Tomb Raider. Microsoft’s GFWL is going down… down… down. Capcom – a studio that has been constantly supporting GFWL – has recently switched over to Steamworks, and it seems that more studios will be following it. Namco Bandai is also ditching GFWL from its titles (Dark Souls II will not require GFWL) and it’s time for Warner Bros to jump on the Steamworks bandwagon. According to the game’s executive producer, Mark Rubin, the PC version of Call of Duty: Ghosts will feature higher resolution textures than those of next-gen console versions. One can only wonder why is this happening, since almost everyone has been praising PS4’s 8GB of GDDR5. Did Infinity Ward hit a limitation or something? Codemasters has released a new set of screenshots and a brand new trailer for F1 2013. F1 2013 will be available in two editions. F1 2013 includes the full game of the current season and classic content from the 1980s, which is playable in the new game mode F1 Classics. Alternatively, fans can choose to purchase F1 2013: Classic Edition, a premium version of the game limited to a run of just 10,000 units in the UK, featuring bespoke box art and expanding the game with 1990s Content and Classic Track Packs. Mastertronic and Abstraction Games announced today that The Chaos Engine, the classic Amiga game originally developed by legendary outfit The Bitmap Brothers, will be coming to PC, Linux and Mac on 29th August. The early ‘90s top-down shooter has been lovingly restored by Abstraction Games, the team who recently brought Hotline Miami to the PS3 and Vita, in close consultation with Mike Montgomery, one of the founding members of The Bitmap Brothers. Abstraction Games have been entrusted with rebuilding The Bitmap Brothers game from the ground up in its original form, as well as throwing in an alternative mode with a few extra enhancements.
