Take-Two has revealed, during its quarterly financial conference call, some interesting sale figures about Sid Meier’s Civilization VI, Mafia 3, Grand Theft Auto V and NBA 2K17.
According to the publisher, Civilization VI has shipped 1.5 million copies, making it the fastest-selling release in the history of the series.
Now the interesting part here is that this number reflects the sales reported by SteamSpy, so we can safely use its stats in order to measure the PC sales of all the other titles.
Grand Theft Auto V has shipped 75 million copies worldwide, from which 6.5 million sales are coming from the Steam. Do note that GTA V is also available via Rockstar’s Social Club, so these PC figures are the minimum possible.
Mafia 3 has shipped 5 million copies and has sold almost half a million on the PC.
On the other hand, NBA 2K17 has shipped nearly 7 million units, and has sold around 182K units on the PC.
Now keep in mind that these sales figures that Take-Two provided are for shipped units and not for sold copies. These are the units that were sold to all available distributors, and not the units that the distributors sold to their customers.

As much as i like PC, its easy to see thats a very niche market when it comes to gaming, yes they are not including pirated games, doesn’t really matter, the discrepancy is just too big.
Thats the main reason why we receive ports, PC is just too much hassle to play a game.
To be serious on PC im more interested in studying about how hardware works rather than playing on it.

Because Xbox and Playstation have much, much smaller base than amount of people who game on PC yet they still sold much more on all of these games but Civ maybe.

I am too lazy to do ressearch and i couldnt care less what a crap game like mafia 3 and a sports game like nba sold on pc, but upon googling doom has sold 1.7 on steam 1.87 on ps4 according to vgchartz and o.83 on xbone. Now ofcourse vgcharts is not as accurate as we would like, but i think this proves that games that should sell on pc do sell with or without denuvo. It is stupid to expect pc gamers to buy some crappy console port for 60 bucks when they literally got the largest library of games one click away.

These are big franchises that sale regardless of quality of the game (Mafia 3 is a fine example).
As for big games that use it like Battlefield 1, I honestly don’t understand reasons behind. If anything denuvo is hurting that game, because if people could pirate game since day 1 and play that short single player, they may get impressed and pay for game to play online.

Explain how far cry primal which is a “BIG FRANCHISE” did not sell. Explain why mafia 3 sold despite being a bad game? Explain why ADR1FT did not sell, that game was not a big franchise and was not cracked. The studio closed down, they couldnt bash piracy now.
As for not understanding why bf1 uses it, simple same reason battlefornt and age of conan use it, it was never about antipiracy, its about control.
