Massive Entertainment & Ubisoft Annecy Join Forces, Four Studios Now Working on the Division

Ubisoft announced today that Ubisoft Annecy and Massive Entertainment have joined forces in order to create Tom Clancy’s The Division. Ubisoft Annecy is the fourth studio that is currently working on The Division. The other three are; Massive Entertainment, Red Storm and Reflections.

David Polfeldt, Managing Director at Massive Entertainment, said:

“We are very happy that Ubisoft Annecy is part of The Division’s family. They are highly experienced and talented developers, adding much value to the project. Being able to work with other studios offers fantastic creative opportunities during development and, in the end, strongly benefits the overall quality of the game.”

Rebecka Coutaz, Studio Manager at Ubisoft Annecy, added:

“The team in Annecy is delighted to be collaborating with Massive, Red Storm and Reflections on Tom Clancy’s The Division. We are bringing our previous experience in multiplayer online games and this project is allowing us to build our technical knowledge in other areas and become experts on this incredible brand. The collaboration with the other studios is going very smoothly, and we’re working together to ensure we meet and exceed the high expectations players have for this new title.”

  1. Please don’t be crap, please don’t be crap, please don’t be crap, please don’t be crap.

    Aw who am I kidding.

    1. Don’t worry… It’s Massive Entertainment. They know how to optimize the game for PC. Optimization should be the last thing to worry about. The real problem is going to be downgrade and Ubi will also remove features, so they can include those in sequel.

  2. In other news, Ubisoft Kiev recently split into four new studios under the new names Ubisoft Annecy, Massive Entertainment, Red Storm, and Reflections.

  3. it’s taking 4 studios to figure out how to get a good open world game running on a 1.6ghz tablet cpu (ps4)

  4. There’s just no way they can keep all the graphics they showed on the first “gameplay trailer” intact and still keep a high resolution with the console’s raw power. Say optimization and shi* and still the raw power of the console would not be able to keep up with that graphical fidelity. CDPR had to downgrade W3 and The Division’s first “gameplay trailer” was so graphically amazing it was like or even better than W3 and the first Hype Dogs trailer.

There was so much detail in the first trailer that I thought I was watching CGI/cutscene. There were techs that Massive used and it was the first time I’ve seen those techs but I’m pretty sure it will eat a lot of stock power to keep it intact. They have to cut out/tone down many graphical aspects of the game. Ooohh boy … just thinking about what riot it will cause XD

  5. I dont even bother to comment something useful… its ubisoft. Enough said.
The sad part some sheeps are gonna preorder… yes. They will.
Edit: i got it. The useful comment:
Buying something from ubisoft is like feeding a troll.

  6. Massive Entertainment has a fairly good reputation and they are the guys behind World in Conflict, hopefully , they can salvage this.
