GTA 4 RTX Remix Feature

Grand Theft Auto 4 RTX Remix Update 1.3.1 Released & Detailed

Modder ‘xoxor4d’ has released Update 1.3.1 for his amazing RTX Remix Path Tracing Mod for Grand Theft Auto 4. This mod will let you play this classic GTA game with real-time Path Tracing. So, let’s see what its latest update brings to the table.

Update 1.3.1 brings several improvements and fixes. One of the biggest changes is the switch to DLSS Ray Reconstruction Model D. This should reduce noise in reflections and provide a cleaner image. The update also makes small adjustments to the new tonemapper settings introduced in Version 1.3.0. As a result, nighttime scenes now appear slightly brighter. In addition, Version 1.3.1 fixes an issue with vehicle liveries. In the previous update, incorrect vertex color settings could cause liveries to appear tinted. This problem has now been resolved.

It’s also worth noting that the modder has released a new experimental version. This version adds to a physical atmosphere, volumetric clouds, a new weather system, and new tonemappers. However, right now, this branch is really buggy.

For example, alpha-tested objects such as chain-link fences can cause visual flickering and instability. Some surface effects, including wetness, emissive lighting, and dirt, may also not update correctly because of the new Preserve Path feature. The mod noted that their DXVK-Remix modifications have not yet been fully updated to work with this feature. In addition, rain particles are currently not visible.

This version may give us a glimpse at what the RTX Remix Mod may achieve in the future. Right now, though, you should avoid it if you simply want to play the game. There is a reason it’s called “Experimental”.
