Modder “rzzzblend” has released a new lightweight visual overhaul for Red Dead Redemption 2 called Natural Light Reworked. This mod focuses on making the game’s lighting look more natural, giving the world a more realistic atmosphere and softer, more controlled colors. The result is a cleaner and more grounded look for the game.
Going into more details, the mod increases GI intensity so the world has more natural-looking light. Lanterns you carry now give off a warm, orange glow. Nighttime is darker and feels more immersive. The mod also removes the fake “glow” that normally appears around NPCs and the player, making everything look more realistic.
If you’re interested, you can download the mod from this link. The modder didn’t share a comparison video, but he did share several screenshots, and you can see some of them at the end of the article. On the NexusMods page, you’ll also find comparison images. These will help you clearly see the visual improvements the mod offers.
I’ve checked some comparison shots and, to be honest, I feel a bit conflicted about this mod. Some areas look better than the vanilla version. But then, there are other areas in which I find the vanilla version to be better. Take, for example, these comparisons for Clouds, Overcast Dark, and Sunny. The shots that are labeled as “Vanilla” look way better. But then you have the Hail comparison, in which the mod looks far better.
Speaking of RDR2, here are some other cool mods for it. First up is a mod that introduces a very cool New Game+ Mode. Another mod revamps the interior lighting of buildings. There’s also this mod that adds random world events. For some extra fun, there’s a gameplay mod that allows the player to use NPC-exclusive scenarios. You can also download this mod that adds fully functional cars to the game. Last but not least, there’s a mod that brings support for DLSS Ultra Quality & DLAA to the game, and another mod that allows you to explore Nuevo Paraiso.
And that’s not all. D.R.O (DRAMATIC RAGDOLL OVERHAUL) is a mod that aims to overhaul the game’s physics. For VR gamers, we have this VR Mod that allows you to experience RDR2 in VR. Plus, you can download this mod, which adds to the game some cool The Matrix-like bullet time effects.
To improve the game’s graphics, you can use the following HD texture packs. For example, this pack will upscale the textures of various objects like badges, boats, gravestones, food, and more. Then we have an HD Texture Pack for terrain, HD textures for ground and rocks, and an HD Texture Pack for vegetation.
