Dead Island 2 new screenshots-2

Dead Island 2 is free to own this week on Epic Games Store

Dead Island 2 is a game I really enjoyed on PC in 2023. So, today, I’m happy to report that it is free to own on Epic Games Store. Until May 22nd, PC gamers can visit its EGS page and acquire their free copy. So, if you haven’t played it, I highly recommend getting it.

Dead Island 2 is one of the few games that had amazing pre-baked lighting. As such, the game performed incredibly well on PC. Not only that, but it looked amazing. In fact, it was one of the games we featured in our Top 10 Best PC Graphics of 2023 list.

The game did not suffer from any mouse issues, it has proper on-screen K&M indicators, and I did not experience any crashes. For those wondering, yes. It does have some traversal stutters, though they weren’t that frequent.

Strangely enough, the game did not get official support for NVIDIA DLSS. It did support AMD FSR, but we all know that DLSS is better than FSR. Thankfully, though, there is a mod that replaces FSR with DLSS. This is also a free mod, something that will please a lot of you. So, make sure to get it from here.

From what I know, Dead Island 2 was a commercial hit. The game sold one million copies in its first three days. Then, in May 2023, Deep Silver revealed that it had sold over 2 million copies. So, hopefully we’ll get a third game in the series. As of right now, though, Deep Silver hasn’t announced anything about Dead Island 3.

You can acquire your free copy of Dead Island 2 from this link.

Enjoy and stay tuned for more!

    1. If you buy a Epic exclusive game you endorse then doing more exclusive deals in the future;
      If you redeem a free game on Epic you endorse then doing more giveaways in the future;

      It's all about what you do with your choices, not some insane randomnes as you suggest.

  1. I'd rather pay on steam than use that horrible software LOL 6 years old and it still doesn't have dedicated forums or support for vr games what a shame 👍🤣

        1. this is what you get for playing fortnite. I still cant believe they deleted unreal, as if it never happened. Apparently hosting a few games that put together are under 20 gigabytes is too much for epic. They erased their past for fortnite slop.

      1. Yesterday I read that it was leaked Steam chats, and Valve was certain they they hadn't come from a compromise of their own systems. Earlier today someone sent me a link about how it was compromised accounts.

        I'll wait for the BleepingComputer article, as they understand cybersecurity better and usually at least make some attempt to get the story correct rather than just rushing to publish ASAP like everyone else seems to…

    1. Agree, it's a total joke. How f*kN re**rded can the Dipsh*ts be 🙄

      Guess all stuff are working 24/7 trying to tight up the Shitshow of an engine they never seems to be free of all kinds of crap. Allways been on every iteration of their engine!

    2. In the meantime, in these 6 years I have been gifted a library of 300 games, including triple A titles like this one.

      1. obviously the Epig store users are a useless market they just want free games and that's it, the death of the PC market, thank goodness steam and GOG exist, if it was for Epig fail store it would have been over 👍🤣

  2. Wohoo frikking awesome my fellow Bandidos Brothers, who sails the sea of this Shitstorm called Democracy we live in 🥳

    Quite shocking they give away this one for free
    Big games like these, rarely gives away besides x-mas etc!

    Great suprise and oh, also a Big F*k You Mr Sweeney, as a thank you. How about That 🤣👌

    1. EGS give away several high profile triple A games so it's not shocking for them to give this one.

      1. Yeah I know, but as said – more often around the Holidays. Well as far as I can remember atleast!

        And Buddy – we gotta Nuke em high – Globalist trash 🥳👌

  3. This game is so so good and I absolutely love it. I even liked it more than dying light 2 and I absolutely loved that game as well.
    The writing was awful but it managed to capture the feeling of hopelessness in a zombie apocalypse better than dying light 2.
    Also, the rage mode in this game made me want a vampire game, hopefully bloodline 2 can fill that role for me.

  4. Johnny "Search Engine Optimization" Papapoulos "forgot" to talk about the other free game called Happy Game, which actually looks more interesting than this one, despite being indie and low budget.

  6. Unfortunately the game still has some mild but constant traversal stutters even on the highest end gear. It’s a shame because the game is visually superb and performance is great with only a 2-3 second level load time.

    Probably related to the game using only 11-12GB VRAM at 4K + DLDSR + DLSS instead of fully utilizing your hardware.
