Free Dino Crisis 2 Fan Remake Demo in Unreal Engine 5 Released

Last week, Stefano Cagnani released a demo for his fan remake of Dino Crisis 2 in Unreal Engine 5. Now, the reason I did not share this project back then was because it was put behind a pay wall. Thankfully, though, Cagnani has decided to make the demo free to everyone.

Since this is created by a single person, you should temper your expectations. This is NOT what an official remake of Dino Crisis 2 will look like. Still, it can give you a vague idea of what a remake of it could be.

The original Dino Crisis 2 used fixed camera angles. On the other hand, the fan remake took a page from Capcom’s remakes of the Resident Evil games. As such, it uses a third-person camera viewpoint. In the demo, players can explore some of the game’s environments. They can also collect cards, solve puzzles and fight some dinosaurs.

As you will see, the demo is rough around the edges. Animations are not that smooth, and Regina’s 3D model feels weird. Still, you have to keep in mind that this is done by one person. Yes, it’s rough. However, it’s also a free demo that some DC2 fans may find interesting.

In total, this demo appears to be offering around an hour of gameplay. At the end of the article, you can find a trailer for it. There is also a full walkthrough video for it (though I can’t embed it in the article). And, if you want to try it yourselves, you can download it from this link.

Speaking of Unreal Engine 5, we recommend trying out these other free fan-made demos. You can grab a Superman UE5 Demo, a Halo 3: ODST Remake, and a Spider-Man UE5 Demo. There’s also a fan-made version of STALKER in Unreal Engine 5. If you love old-school FPS games, you should check out this remake of the classic FPS Blood in Epic’s engine.

And that’s not all. There is a cool remake of Halo: Combat Evolved’s Halo level in UE5 that you can download. Or how about this free Attack on Titan game? Then we have the fan remakes for Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake, Oblivion, and MediEvil 2. Plus, there is an amazing fan remake of Sonic Adventure 2, called Sonic Adventure 2 Redux.

Owners of high-end GPUs can also try these two tech demos. The first one features a Witcher-like environment. The second shows off a Rome Italian Town. Last month, we also shared a demo of King’s Field 2 in UE5. Finally, we have The Lord of the Rings: Conquest Reimagined in Unreal Engine 5, a remake of Flappy Bird, a demo for Need for Speed: Underground 2, and a Diablo 2 Remake Demo. They all look awesome, so be sure to give them a try.

Enjoy and stay tuned for more!

  1. So you didn't talk about it because of a paywall, yet you talk about PureDark mods every occasion you get, even doing callback on news that are totally unrelated?

Pick a lane John, and stick to it FFS.

    1. Puredark helps no person except himself and paid mods should not be premoted i have thousadsof roms rom packs emulators abandonware teknoparrot Teknoparrot standalones Reompiled modded roms all for free granglers arcade.

    2. It's not behind paywall. Mr. BLIND.
There is "No thanks, just take me to the downloads" button, just click that, ffs.

      1. the reason I did not share this project back then was because it was put behind a pay wall

        Mr. Reading comprehension. It was.

    3. PureDark's DLSS 4 mods are more polished (and more essential to a lot of people) than a fan remake demo.

      1. 1) That's not what you said, you said I didn't talk about it because it was behind a paywall. That's your news, YOU wrote it.

        2) PureDark is a moron and paid mods should never, NEVER be promoted especially when they ask you to stay subscribed to work or that they break as soon as there is an update.

        1. 1) And I was talking specifically about this project. I didn’t share it because it was behind a paywall. I wasn’t talking about everything that is behind a paywall. It’s not THAT hard to get it (unless you are intentionally trying to find something to get angry about. If that’s the case, you should seek help 😛 ).

          2) That’s your opinion. Also, all the DLSS 4 mods work even if you unsubscribe. Unless an update breaks compatibility. Now, when that happens, you can’t really blame the modder for it. The ones that broke compatibility were the devs. It sucks but it can happen.

          2) That’s your opinion and I respect it. Also, all the DLSS 4 mods work even if you unsubscribe. Unless an update breaks compatibility. Now, when that happens, you can’t really blame the modder for it. The ones that broke compatibility were the devs. It sucks but it can happen.

          1. 1) As I said, pick a lane. You can't say "I don't talk about this because paywall" then talk about another project that IS paywalled. Unless it's a paid ad idk? There is not a "specifically about this project" excuse, that's stupid.

            2) No, not if you are not subscribed. You need to login and if you don't have an active subscription, it won't work. The only thing that will still work are mods prior to the end of the subscription. But it's 99% for new games, so by the end of your month a new version will be out, needing you to subscribe AGAIN. Same if an update is released you are f*ked. You want to use the new mod for this new game you bought? Well you NEED to subscribe.

KCD2 for example had a terrible first version of the mod, then an update came out… a month later. How strange.

And I'm saying this because I HATE paid mod, it's absolutely not the spirit. Also PureDark is really a moron that is so over himself I couldn't believe it. And you are there promoting this bullsh*t. So yes, f*k this guy.

I hope you can understand because I really like your site, I just can't stand those practice (paid mods) and the fact you endorse them is pretty sad.

          2. Jup but still. Its not enough to pay for a product, you pay a "service fee" too. As in, you want the new update of the mod you got from me, you have to resubscribe. Thats awful monetization.

        4. You sir, are very correct! And i concur. I wont use BIG words, but lets just say, i strongly disagree with PureDark's commercialization/marketing tactics.

  2. naturally like your web site however you need to take a look at the spelling on several of your posts. A number of them are rife with spelling problems and I find it very bothersome to tell the truth on the other hand I will surely come again again.

  3. I'm impressed, specifically because it looks very PS3 era which makes it feel much more appropriate, and i value when something stays connected to its roots.

It uses the heavily colored filters, not too high detail models or textures, and looks action-y. It's not tryharding to look super modern, cool, and shiny, contrasty and saturated, or trying to grab for some desaturated photorealism.
It's not so much that it's rough as emphasized in the article (clueless), it's that it's doing something very right.
