Grand Theft Auto V feature

Here’s your first look at GTA 5 with DLSS 3 Frame Generation

Modder ‘PureDark’ has released a video, showcasing Grand Theft Auto 5 with DLAA and DLSS 3 Frame Generation. This mod aims to improve the performance of GTA5, though it would be better if the modder focused on GTA IV.

I brought up Grand Theft Auto 4 because we all know how poorly it runs on PC, even today. Unlike GTA 5, which can run smoothly on lots of different computers, GTA 4 is still a bit of a headache on PC. It can be so awful that you have to use DXVK just to make it fun to play. That says a lot in my opinion.

Anyway, with DLSS 3 Frame Generation, owners of the RTX40 series graphics cards can almost double their performance. This will be great for those that have heavily modified GTA5. With DLSS 3, you can get amazing framerates in 4K with the best graphics mods, such as NVE, QuentV and ENB. Not only that but DLAA (as well as DLSS Super Resolution) can improve the game’s image quality. Let’s not forget that GTAV uses TAA for its anti-aliasing solution. So yeah, DLSS 3 Super Resolution will be a must-have in this game for all RTX owners.

And now for the bad news. As with all DLSS 3 mods from PureDark, this one will also be behind a Patreon wall. So no, you won’t be able to download and use it for free. This sucks but hey, it is what it is. Let’s at least hope that other modders, like LukeFZ, will release free DLSS 3 mods for both GTA5 and GTA 4.

Speaking of Grand Theft Auto 5, we also suggest taking a look at these free mods for it. For instance, we have this mod that overhauls over 70 side characters. Then there is this Real Life Beverly Hills ModNaturalVision Evolved Mod is a graphical overhaul mod that aims to improve the game’s lighting. QuantV is interesting another graphical mod for Rockstar’s open-world title. Earlier this month, we also shared a mod that restored all the songs that were cut from the game. And then we have all the amazing mods the JulioNIB has shared over the past few years.

Enjoy and stay tuned for more!

    1. And actually DLSS and DLAA are also forms of TAA, they just use AI to to derive the temporal information more accurately and without as much blur. One of Nvidia’s pre-requisites for DLSS is the game must support TAA

      1. Their Anti-Aliasing does have a temporal component like TAA, but it isn’t just TAA added to DLSS and DLAA. Not that it matters, because an NVIDIA employee created TAA as well…

True that John, it’s saying that Valve is the only entity which truly cares about PC gaming, unlike all the other stock market companies dealing with videogames, who only exist to funnel money out of the consumers into their shareholders’ pockets, without any care for the medium whatsoever.

Valve on the other hand has been funding the German lead developer of DXVK since 2018, who’s job description on his GitHub page states:

“Working around game bugs since 2018”

    1. Valve doesn’t truly care about PC gaming beyond the extent of making profits. If you believe otherwise then you are naive and you should review Economics 101.

      1. Since you clearly have a higher IQ than I do, please riddle me this:

Why does Valve release DXVK as open-source software?

Why invest all that money into it and then not just make it a proprietary extension for SteamOS?

Why even allow ignorant & ungrateful Windows users such as yourself to use it completely free of charge, without even the need to have Steam itself installed in the first place?

        Where’s the profit in that?

Please enlighten me with your expert “Economics 101” knowledge!

Thanks in advance, 64K worth of brain memory…

        1. My IQ has nothing to do with it. It’s 143 btw but this is really about common sense that almost everyone has.

Every successful business does things that cost them money to promote their image as caring about the community.

For instance, Epic gives away free games every week but EGS is still sh*t. The free games doesn’t change that.

Also, Linux is free but it will never be the future for the vast majority as your alias implies. The hope for that died long, long ago. It’s a decaying, rotting, fetid corpse that needs to be put in a hole somewhere and forgotten about.

          1. Meanwhile, here’s a quote from the Digital Foundry review of the Steam Deck OLED, who traditionally have been very close to Microsoft:

From shaky beginnings, SteamOS itself has evolved into a competent, accessible way to play PC games on the go, successfully carving out an entirely new PC market. With its software, Valve has expertly straddled the line between mainstream accessibility and the kind of customisation and tweakability that the PC audience demands. The Proton compatibility layer rarely intrudes on the experience and some games actually run better under SteamOS than they do on Windows.

And that is with a beta quality SteamOS 3.5, while there are already improvements brewing within the Linux kernel which will only land into SteamOS sometime in 2025 (not a typo).

Once Windows 10 reaches EOL in 2025, expect alot of gamers giving SteamOS a try for the first time, since it will be released freely to the public by then.

And trust me, most of them won’t be disappointed with their gaming experience on SteamOS…

          2. And in further news the vast majority of PC users don’t give a damn about Linux and they never will.

I like you and I respect you. You have fortitude .

However, you live in a fantasy world where Linux is the future for the vast majority of PC users.

          3. I actually earn a wealthy living thanks to my work on Linux.

Are you able to earn a living with a hobby of yours, such as gaming?

Or do you have to work a below average job because of your below average IQ?

            Genuinely curious…

          4. I don’t like to give up on people. I don’t do that lightly. There have been some people in my time that have been salvaged from f*cking worthless pieces of sh*t to somewhat decent people that require patience and a little breathing room but I’m going to have give up on you.

You are either seriously disillusioned or a irredeemable troll.

          5. This is the Internet. Anyone can say anything, and nothing is truly verifiable. I could say I was a Senator, or a homeless guy living in a tent in LA, and while they might not be believable it’s still not going to be easy to validate what’s true and what isn’t.

BTW: This is the second time you’ve tried to measure my value by what I do (or don’t do) for a living. If that’s how you determine whether or not someone’s opinion is valid, then you may want to take a serious accounting of how you look at life in general.

        2. Valve doesn’t seem to want to use Windows on their devices for some reason (probably because they don’t have as much control over it), so they have committed themselves to making Linux work on their devices and making games work on it. If not for that, I doubt that Valve would work on things like DXVK at all.

When it comes to games, Valve very clearly only cares about money. That’s why they are packed with microtransactions and loot boxes, and why Valve has sat by for more than a decade and done nothing as content creators addict people to gambling over skins for their stupid games (Valve makes money off of skin sales).

Does Valve make some good decisions in the design of their games? Yes, I appreciate that CS2 is forward rendered with MSAA and CMAA2 instead of deferred rendered with TAA. Does that mean that they do no wrong? Absolutely not. Doing a few good things does not excuse the bad that they do.

          1. Using Linux goes back to Gabe starting to make more games Linux compatible and the creation of the Steam OS. He feared that MS was moving towards a walled-garden and that would kill Steam. It was a move of self preservation and tbh it was the right thing to do. I don’t trust MS and that goes back for decades.

Steam is obviously the best digital store out there and I admit that I have a bias towards Valve but, yes, as you said they do sh*tty things too.

          2. Ah yes, the walled garden concerns. They may have been reasonably well founded as well since Microsoft has their own app store, then there’s gamepass which isn’t available on Steam, and then there was a version of Windows 10 where it wasn’t possible to install anything that wasn’t on the Microsoft store.

          3. I’ve seen this kind of rhetoric for many years at this point. The thing is Valve is not the same company they once were when they were mainly focused on making stellar games. Now they’re a megacorporation that deals with a whole bunch of things in both software and hardware.

If Valve simply made all the good decisions just for the money and nothing else they wouldn’t have gone above and beyond to make Steam the way it is today by doing the following: making a comprehensive controller remapping tool along with a controller-friendly and sleek-looking menu, adding Remote Play, creating an operating system dedicated to gaming that can also be used like a normal computer and continues to improve over time, while supporting older games better than the operating systems they were intended for, etc.

A company that only cares about making money wouldn’t be doing all of this stuff which I’m sure is costing them a fortune to do. So they may be cheapening out by adding all kinds of meaningless microtransactions to their F2P games but at least some of that money is being spent to improve the user experience on their platform.

They don’t bother to make traditional story-driven games anymore. However, they do excel in every other project they’re currently working on. They added 4K resolution in recent months to their Remote Play service and with the arrival of the Steam Deck OLED it would only make sense for them to add HDR functionality into RP.

They could have just easily taken the EGS, Origin, Ubisoft Connect and sadly the GOG Galaxy route by adding a few incremental improvements and calling it a day but they obviously didn’t. And if you check out their YouTube channel they’re giving out free advice to indie developers on how they could give their games more exposure in their store.

In my opinion Valve is saving the PC market whereas others (besides GOG) are heading towards a much darker path because of their blatant greed and anti-consumer practices. Ubisoft recently announced that they’re shutting down online services for a bunch of their classic games yet again. Meanwhile all of Valve’s games, including the prehistoric ones, are still up and running. Just because they do a few wrongs doesn’t mean it should outweigh all the rights they do.

          4. Respect, very well written & said!

It’s honestly quite refreshing to see other people with common sense around here, who actually have the mental capabilities to do proper argumentations instead of constant personal attacks.

Please consider sticking around, because the comment section of this site desperately needs more people like You!

Cheers, looking forward to seeing You again around here!

          5. Appreciate it. I’ve been tuning into this site for many years now. I just don’t bother to comment all that much unless there’s an article for a game I’m really excited for or I feel the need to respond to something.

I don’t think those who disagree with our point of view lack any moral sense. It’s just that they see things from a different perspective. There can be some truths to everyone’s arguments and perhaps not everything I said is entirely accurate.

My main point I was getting at was that things don’t always have to be black and white. EGS gives away free games every week and I take opportunity of that despite how unethical the company appears to be. Their software could contain spyware or anything of the sorts but I’ve come to accept that may be the case with everything nowadays unless you pirate stuff or buy things that are DRM-free.

But if I see a company doing a lot of things to improve my gaming experience despite some of the other things they do, depending on what that is, then I don’t really get the thinking behind “the company only cares about money”. If anything the passive income they’re generating from their F2P games and marketplace is perhaps the sole reason why Valve hasn’t introduced any subscription services and locking online multiplayer functionality behind it like their competitors do. You gotta find the positives in the negatives.

          6. Valve owns the biggest PC game store on the planet. They make untold millions (or more) off of the sale of PC games, and they have a vested interest in making sure that people not only want to buy them, but also that they want to spend as much time (and money) playing them as possible. They don’t do anything they do out of the kindness of their hearts, or out of a love for PC gaming. Those days are gone, and that Valve is dead.

          7. Sure. But we can at least appreciate their pro-consumer acts which are undeniable. They genuinely listen all the constructive criticism and feedback in order to improve their services now more than ever. If these kinds of acts have nothing to do with their customers’ satisfaction and bettering the PC platform, which also as a result entices more potential customers, then I don’t know how else you can describe what it is they’re trying to do.

They’re not a non-profit charity aiming to get rid of world hunger so of course they need make money like anyone else. The bottom line is the intention of what they hope to accomplish with the money they’re making through ways perhaps you don’t like. What are their ethical guidelines that they’ve made absolutely clear for the public to know? For years Valve has consistently explained what they aim to strive for each time they embark on a new endeavour but for some reason you fail to acknowledge these things.

The old Valve you’re thinking of didn’t bother to implement a refund policy until they were pressured by third party organisations, even though their customers had been complaining about it long before it was added. So I fail to see how Valve were a better company back then compared to now or what made them more pro-PC gaming back in the good ol’ days. They just don’t make any single-player, story-driven games anymore which is why I don’t consider them a game developer at this time.

          8. I don’t think you can use the “they still need to make money” argument for a company that runs the largest PC game store on the planet and keeps 30% of every sale on their store, but still has the gall to sell lootboxes in their games and is fine with sitting there earning a percentage off of gambling for in-game items as their customers slowly get addicted to it.

It’s nice that they occasionally do some good, but the reality is that Valve probably doesn’t even need to charge money for their games or any in-game content with the cash that they are raking in from Steam.

As for Valve doing “pro-consumer” things, when are they going to allow people to resell games they own on Steam and don’t want anymore? They do in Germany because it’s the law there, but what about everywhere else?

          9. I didn’t know it’s possible to resell your Steam or any digital games for that matter anywhere in the world. It’s one of those features many people have been asking for but nobody has bothered to implement it. Chances are it’s because all publishers have rallied against it to every digital distribution out there behind closed doors since they’re the ones who lose out on this. Unless one major distribution decides to allow their customers to sell or trade their digital games then nobody else is going to make the move since there’s no real pressure from third parties to do so. Germany is an exception and I don’t think their policy was all that influential to get other countries involved in the same case.

My point about them needing the money has less to do with them trying to stay afloat as a business and more to do with wanting to have that competitive edge and remain relevant in the market. Yes, I agree that they do a whole bunch of scummy things in order to earn easy money, but in a way that kind of reflects the nature of human beings. If you had the choice of being able to rake up a lot of money without having to put in all that much effort chances are you would do it, regardless of how it would affect others. So long as it’s perfectly legal to do so. If Valve weren’t doing all the positive things they have been doing for the industry and consumers and were instead all about the loot boxes, having a so-so and outdated client/launcher and didn’t bother to make excellent portable handhelds which gives the Nintendo Switch a run for its money then they would just be the same as their competitors on the PC when it comes to their value or reputation.

I don’t really care for these arena or multiplayer based shooters by Valve beyond TF2 and L4D but if CS2 is essentially P2W because of microtransactions then yeah it’s a major problem. But as far as I’m aware the game is promoted to be eSports-friendly so I can’t fathom how it can be designed to scam their customers when the base game is completely free with the only thing they’re able to profit from are cosmetics. I don’t know because I haven’t looked all that much into it. In my opinion, if anyone finds themselves being addicted to buying loot boxes or any MTXs then that’s on them not the people who are selling it. The industry is in this state because of those who enabled it.

    2. Valve is a business. The main business goal is to make a profit. Those that don’t close shop soon afterward. Economics 101.

      Also……

Linux is the future for the vast majority of gamers is long since dead. It’s a decaying rotting corpse that should just go away.

  2. Come on Take-Two, you’ve been taking down mods down so this is your chance to DMCA against this f󠀀uc󠀀king c󠀀un󠀀t’s (PureDark) patreon page.
