CD Projekt RED has announced that The Witcher 3 has sold over 40 million copies worldwide on all platforms. Additionally, the team revealed that The Witcher franchise has sold over 65 million copies.

Yesterday, CDPR revealed that Cyberpunk 2077 has sold over 18 million copies. And two days ago, the team stated that The Witcher 3 Next-Gen has been indefinitely delayed.
During an investors call, CD Projekt’s senior vice president of business development Michal Nowakowski tried to explain this delay.
“I’ve been looking at the headlines that popped up here and there over the internet, and I’ve seen one that really drew my attention, which is, ‘Witcher 3 next-gen delayed indefinitely,’ which sounds like the game is in some sort of development hell,” Nowakowski said. “I want to state this is not the fact. There’s been a lot of insinuations that we’re going to launch, like, June next year or something like that. That’s completely not the case.
Everything we’re saying is—we have taken the development of the game in-house. The game is going to be finished in-house. We’re evaluating our time, that requires a bit of investigation—that’s all we’re saying. Nobody’s saying the game is delayed [with] some monumental time gap ahead of us. That’s as much as I can say about Witcher next-gen, but I really want to emphasize that fact.”
Lastly, CD Projekt RED stated that the first expansion for Cyberpunk 2077 will release in 2023.

Yeah i got zero respect now, if they sell so many copies then any argument “game is too expensive, piracy, we dont have time” is nonsense, applies to every dev by the way. AAA games should be better at those selling copies numbers. I guess AAA is unsalvageable at this point.

The Witcher series has definitely made a lot of money for CDPR. I’m not sure what they can do with another Witcher game but I imagine it will sell very well just based on reputation from previous games.

Cyberpunk 2077 expansion that releases 3 years after the original game is pointless. The game is dead in the water and has been for 2 years.
