Crysis 3 Remastered feature

Crytek issues C&D letter to the creator of the unofficial Photomode for Crysis 2/3 Remastered

As we all know, the first Crysis game relied heavily on its modding community. Not only that, but PC gamers could capture high-resolution screenshots, similar to the Photomode that most games currently feature. However, it appears that Crytek has just shot itself in its foot. In a really surprising, and really stupid, move, the team issued a C&D letter to the creator of an unofficial Photomode for Crysis 2/3 Remastered.

Created by Frans Bouma, this unofficial Photomode simply allowed you to take beautiful screenshots from C2R and C3R. This mod did not feature any game assets, yet Crytek is currently trying to shut it down.

In my opinion, this is worse than what Take-Two did with GTA San Andreas and GTA Vice City. I mean, Take-Two never had a good record so we all pretty much expected that behaviour. In this case, though, we’re talking about a company that had embraced the PC and modding communities when it released its first title. Fast forward a few years and here we are, in 2022, with the very same company (that was so open to mods) prohibiting mods for its latest games.

We seriously hope that Crytek will reconsider this. Instead of fighting the modding scene, Crytek should be embracing it!

      1. Years ago Crytek couldn’t pay their employees for several months and this happened multiple times. They eventually closed their studios in Hungary, Bulgaria, South Korea and China just to survive financially.

Crytek is pretty much irrelevant now.

It’s a shame that Crytek p*ssed their future away chasing after console gamer money which was popular at the time.

        1. You people you need to realize this a business, all you guys are thinking about is the finish product. They are in this business to make money and consoles make the most. So why wouldn’t they pursue that clear options.

  1. companies these days, they’re helmed by dummies. all of em. their resume must include a bullet point that says something like “willing to go complete re**rd in a moments notice for no reason.”

  2. So apparently Crytek only allows mods for the Crysis games if you legally own the game you are modding and use the modding SDK provided by Crytek:

Note that they also forbid asking for donations or “monetizing” mods for Crysis, so a Crysis modder having a Patreon page would violate that terms of service if they use it to support their modding of Crysis games.

      1. I don’t agree with it and I don’t play their games, if one purchases and plays they agree to the TOS set forth by the developer.

You can’t breach just because you don’t agree or like it, simply don’t buy their products.

  3. What a dumpster fire. I bought that first Crysis remaster because it was cheap on Steam a few months back and replayed it. Now I’m done with this husk of a company.

  4. What a weak move, I can’t even begin to understand this.

We don’t want high quality images on our remastered games which are all about graphical fidelity.

  5. You were the Chosen One! It was said that you would destroy the Sith,
not join them! Bring balance to the force, not leave it in darkness!

  6. Crytek died after the production of Ryse, for what i know ,a Portuguese dude who i talked to some time back ,he said that they where practically forced onto a project no one liked , that project was ryse , he said he was going to jump out from crytek as many other devs ,who left that dying company,
Instead of going in the direction of making games that we knew and liked crysis and time spliters , they threw everything out went with multiplayer, variety instead of talent and ended in the sh*t they are now…

making deals with saber a epic money fraud lover, who rather have its fan base destroyed over some millions that wont last forever…
