Resident Evil Fan Remake

Take a look at these amazing fan remakes of Resident Evil 1 & Resident Evil Code Veronica

It appears that an indie team is currently working on fan remakes of Resident Evil 1 and Resident Evil Code Veronica. These two projects are currently in an amazing development state, and you can find below two videos from them. These videos will give you an idea of what you can expect from them.

The team behind these two projects aims to release the Resident Evil 1 Remake sometime in 2022. This fan remake will feature an over-the-shoulder third-person perspective, similar to Resident Evil 2 Remake and Resident Evil 3 Remake. Similarly, Resident Evil Code Veronica Remake will be in third-person.

In Resident Evil 1 Remake, players will manage their inventory, find defense knives to quickly run away from a zombie about to bite them. Additionally, they’ll be able to use their flashlight whenever they want. The game will also have a dodge mechanic, and a good amount of weapons to choose from.

On the other hand, Resident Evil Code Veronica Remake will have new animations and a new Zombies system. These new zombies will be similar to those of Resident Evil 2 Remake and Resident Evil 3 Remake. Furthermore, it will have the dodge mechanic that Capcom used in Resident Evil 3 Remake.

Lastly, and as the team stated, it will cancel these fan remakes once, and if, Capcom sends it a C&D letter. And, to be honest, I’m pretty sure that this will happen soon.

But anyway, go ahead and watch the following videos as they look amazing!

  1. It suffers from the same thing Doom III suffered from. Simply scenery that is too dark and you will end up raising gamma to see stuff.

    1. Or you know. Use your flashlight as it’s designed to actually be able to see.
I’ve played Doom 3 multiple times without needing to raise black levels to make it more visible when playing in controlled lighting conditions.
Maybe if you are playing in a bright sunny room it may be an issue.
I dunno. I watched both of these videos on a calibrated Sony PVM 2551MD with gamma set to 2.40 (I have it set this way for specific content. But adjust it to standard 2.20 when needed) and some stuff was hard to see. But once I set it to SRGB standard 2.20 there are no issues seeing anything. And let me be clear almost no content is made with SRGB 2.40 in mind. The standard for SRGB is 2.20, and the video most likely uses the BT709 curve which is slightly different but still targeting 2.2.
So if your monitor’s gamma is set up accurately and properly you shouldnt’ have a problem.

  2. Using official assets? Check. Using Capcom’s Engine beyond a mere mod for existing games? Check? C&D In 5…4…3

        1. I think you need to get a check-up if you think this garbage looks like the RE Engine.

The dev’s youtube page had a video with Unity in the title.

It was either going to be UE or Unity, looked too ugly to be UE so not surprised.

  3. First of all why would you be stupid enough to put this on Patreon and ACCEPT MONEY to work on copyrighted material you don’t have the rights to? Much less pay someone money on their Patreon for it?

Second, just stop with the action shooter “remakes” of classic RE games. No one wants them even if they were official.

  4. Why cant these people making remakes ever just stay quiet until release and then just drop the mod on bit torrent? They always have to say something early and get a C & D. It is such a waste. Can you imagine all the cool sh*t we would have today if they could just shut up and release stuff once it was finished? We would have so many awesome remakes out there.

  5. The only thing that really requires A LOT of work is the hit detetcion! For the rest, a truly exceptional job!
