Metal Gear Solid 5 Beyond Ultra Settings Mod released, improves LOD & shadows, reduces pop-ins

Modders ‘TheSleepwalker’ and ‘frofoo’ have released a new graphical mod for Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain. Metal Gear Solid 5 Beyond Ultra Settings Mod improves LOD and draw distance, as well as distant shadows.

Going into more details, the low detail planes of pseudo-terrain overlayed on top of actual geometry in the game are pushed much further making them less noticeable. Buildings and the like are also more detailed. Furthermore, additional formations of rocks & trees are rendered in the distance.

Moreover, this mod adds an additional Shadow Cascade. Thus, the game now properly casts shadows further, providing shadowing from the sun even at longer ranges, without lowering close shadows resolution too much.

As you may have guessed, these improvements result in less grass & terrain pop-in. Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain is an open-world game, so you will immediately notice these graphical improvements.

Do note, however, that with the additional Shadow Cascades, any all “sun shadows” will be less defined. The recommended version adds one, while the Alternative version adds two. Additionally, a slight hitch will probably occur when changing “sector”.

Speaking of MGS V: The Phantom Pain, there are some other cool mods to try. One mod allows you to play the game in first-person mode, while another one adds six new side operations. As you may have guessed, there is also a Nude Mod for Quiet.

Have fun!

      1. It’s marketed as an open world game but it’s not really an open world game, rather a game with big maps, there’s a difference i think, but it’s on of the best stealth games of this gen, difficult to deny that

  1. I would love the missing chapter mod, after digging up and realizing the cut content that Konami denied us by being greedy c*nts makes me so mad

      1. The budget of mgs5 is not even close to a fraction of another yearly release of a call of duty game.

All metal gear games were great and successful, suddenly Konami became senile and wanted to rush this and alienate their goose that laid golden eggs?!

It was due to their new direction of exiting the gaming market and going towards mobile gaming and pachinkos and yearly PES, Kojima and his team was in the way of this new politic.

        #f*ckonami

    1. The cut content isn’t present in the game files sadly, the only glimpse we had was a bonus video on the PS4 Collector’s Edition if i’m right

  2. Slightly out of topic but MGS2: Sons of liberty was way superior than MGSV. Imo Metal Gear Solid was never meant to be an open world game.

    1. Nope, MGSV has by far the best gameplay of all the series, it’s rich and the controls are tight and simple, stealth games with fixed camera angles belong to the ice age.
As for the story i don’t really care since i never found the lore of MGS really interesting, it’s cringe or perhaps funny at best

      1. I did my first run of MGS2 Sons of Liberty recently and I hated it at last, so many gameplay constraints…Nice plot, but the gameplay and absurd evil characters (I LOVE first MGS, by the way, but played it in 1998…)

  3. I’ll have to try this one out, I started replaying it 3 weeks ago and the popins were killing me.

  4. Love the before/after shots; this is how you present a mods worth.

Looks better than expected, will download and enjoy.

This game is WAY better than I ever expected btw. 81hours and counting.
