Amazon Italy has listed AMD “Matisse Refresh” Ryzen 3000XT’s pricing and release date

We know AMD is prepping new desktop CPUs in the Ryzen 3000 Matisse family lineup, the Ryzen 9 3900XT (3900X replacement), Ryzen 7 3800XT (3800X replacement) and lastly the Ryzen 5 3600XT (3600X replacement). AMD plans to refresh the 3000 lineup with these new SKUs.

They all seem to be part of the “Matisse Refresh” family. Amazon Italy currently listed two SKUs on its website, the Ryzen 9 3900XT and Ryzen 5 3600XT. Only the Ryzen 7 3800XT is missing for now. The official Amazon page has apparently also been taken down.

According to the Amazon’s page listing, AMD will officially announce these Matisse refresh Zen 2 chips on June 16, with an expected release date of July 7th. This is assuming the listing on the Amazon Italy page was legit. These chips will arrive with same specs as their vanilla counterparts having identical cores, threads, and cache, with the only exception being a change in the clock speed, i.e. 100 MHz higher boost clock than their previous counterparts.

The XT models appear to be higher binned chip variants than the non-XT SKUs. But the pricing is not fully confirmed since it could also be a ‘placeholder’, or just an early inflated pre-order price. We don’t have any info on the base clock, but the boost clock of both these SKUs is 100MHz higher than their counterparts. Despite the higher boost clocks, the Ryzen 9 3900XT and Ryzen 5 3600XT have the same TDP, which is 105W for Ryzen 9 3900XT and 95W for the Ryzen 5 3600XT.

Ryzen 3600XT features 6 cores and 12 threads with a boost clock up to 4.5 GHz. The Ryzen 9 3900XT is a 12-core and 24-thread CPU having a max boost clock speed of 4.7 GHz. It appears that the Ryzen 9 3900XT currently ships without any Wraith Prism CPU cooler from AMD.

When it comes to the pricing, the Ryzen 9 3900XT and Ryzen 5 3600XT cost €569.69 ($640) and €284.84 ($320), respectively. For comparison, the Ryzen 9 3900X and Ryzen 5 3600X sell for €449.10 ($505) and €212.9 ($239) on Amazon Italy.  So we’re looking at a roughly 26% price increase for the Ryzen 9 3900XT, and a 34% for the Ryzen 5 3600XT.

The pricing seems to be very high. But like mentioned before, this could be a placeholder, or just an early inflated pre-order price.  Assuming AMD is indeed following this price strategy, these SKUs are going to be a hard sell, given the price/performance ratio, at least in my opinion. Honestly, I’m not sure how well these SKUs are going to stack up against Intel’s Comet Lake-S lineup of processors. We need to wait for official Gaming and synthetic benchmarks to come to any conclusion.

  1. The pricing may be intentional. Often, people just buy the higher priced part assuming it is the better one. Perhaps AMD is moving into the premium territory. Logically, it is time to leave their “bang for the buck” pricing behind, now that they’re in the lead in performance.

    1. No, they should stick with that “bang for buck” motto. I don’t want them to be like Intel and Nvidia.

      1. I hope they do, but as a company it would be an obvious move to boost their profits. I’m hoping they stay the people’s champion but we’ll see.

  2. I mean AMD did try to charge $80 more for the 2700X in the Anniversary Edition, and that just had Lisa Su’s signature lasered onto the IHS. It wouldn’t surprise me at all if these are way too expensive.

    1. The anniversary edition was a totally different product for select few gamers, since it had Lisa’s signature, so maybe thats why it was slightly expensive.

      1. “For a select few gamers”

No, it was for AMD fanboys. No one else would pay $80 more for a CPU that has zero functional difference to the baseline SKU. FFS, you can’t even see the signature with a cooler on it.

    2. Why would someone want Lisa Su’s signature on the CPU in the first place, is just beyond me, lol.

  3. Whats up with all these “refresh/rebrand” products from AMD ? I haven’t seen Intel doing the same.

  4. Damn if those prices turn out to be true, then I’m doomed. I mean if they charge a premium now, then what about next-gen procs, Zen 3 and beyond ?

  5. Digital Foundry just revealed that the best-looking games featured in
the official PlayStation 5 reveal were running at 30fps. ??

      1. Indeed. All the ridiculous hype solely about its Jesus speed SSD and now we know why. Because devs are having to stick with 30fps gaming in order to have those shiny graphics. LOL!

    1. Im not sure what else you were expecting.
      Some were 60 fps though.
      Almost everything native 4K.
It would be so much better if they used 1440p with good upscaling to 4K and push 60fps but resolution sells more then framerate I guess.
