The PC announcement for Red Dead Redemption 2 may be just around the corner. Earlier this month, the Australian Classification has denied the classification for a new Red Dead Redemption 2 entry. However, yesterday the Australian Classification classified Red Dead Redemption 2. I guess third time is a charm.
You can find the Australian Classification for Red Dead Redemption 2 here. As we can clearly see, this is coming from Rockstar Games itself. So yeah, this is the real deal.
Now it’s worth noting that Red Dead Redemption 2 had already been classified for PS4 and Xbox One back in 2018. As such, this new classification is for new platforms. Therefore, we are either looking for a PC or for a next-gen platform approval.
In short, this classification confirms that Red Dead Redemption 2 is most likely coming to other platforms than PS4 and Xbox One. However, we are not sure yet what these other platforms are. All we know is that this classification is under the “Computer Games” section.
My guess is that Take-Two and Rockstar will reveal the highly rumoured PC version of Red Dead Redemption 2 in September/October. Let’s also not forget that earlier this month, Rockstar released its very own PC launcher. Therefore, it’s almost a certain that Red Dead Redemption 2 will come out on it.

If RS wants to make people very happy on PC, then we would get a bundle of RDR and RDR 2. I know RDR was never planned for PC, but things can change.
I’m also bummed that it isn’t available on PS4.
it’s not that it wasn’t “planned” for PC, PC as a gaming platform wasn’t profitable (or barely profitable) back then because of piracy.
More the death of retail than piracy
RDR was built on the GTA 4 engine with lots of tweaks and in order for them to release it on PC they would have to rebuild it from the ground up. That’s why it never released and likely never will, AFAIK.
I’d rather play the first one on PC rather than the second one.
RDR 2 is a lot better. You’ll probably be able to emulate RDR smoothly in a year or two.
It doesn’t make sense to release this on Steam if they don’t want to give big chunk of their profits to Gabe.

Cross platform saves would be awesome. I stopped playing it after ~25hrs on PS4 Pro because I couldn’t stand 30fps anymore.
If they use the same file format for the saves you might just be able to find them and copy them over manually.
Thats what I’m hoping for. I did that before with my Fallout 3 saves on 360.
