THQ Nordic has announced that it has acquired the Alone in the Dark and Act of War franchises from Atari. THQ Nordic has not announced any further details or any plans to re-release the previous games on modern-day platforms.
We also don’t know if and when new parts for these franchises will be developed. THQ Nordic has acquired several IPs these past few months/years so we are not certain whether there will be a new Alone in the Dark game. I mean, THQ Nordic must be interested in such a thing otherwise it would not have purchased the IP.
We are also curious about Act of War. Act of War was developed by EUGEN Systems and was a real-time strategy game. It was pretty cool and a nice alternative to Command & Conquer, however – and with the cancellation of the free to play Command and Conquer game – very few publishers have invested in the real-time strategy genre these past few years.
But anyway, we’ll be sure to keep you posted about these two franchises.
Thanks VG247

How about a nice, proper, Alone in the Dark remake. The original I mean. Not that pile of digital vomit from 2008.
Pfft, the old alone in the dark games are a pile of vomit. the 2008 atleast had good features and was playable from a fps perspective. Id argue new nightmare was better than the original games.
the one from 2008 played the best, it had a lot of problems but with little bit of polish it’d have been a great game, it reminded me of obscure games and little bit of keanu reeves constantine. there’s something special about 90s horror games and movies.
yeah pretty much.
F*CK. YES. Now do what Devolver and Night Dive were unable to do and pry the Blood IP from Atari’s cold, dead fingers. And buy up NOLF from whoever the hell owns that while you’re at it. https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/8259eb69cfbc3125c4ad5f65ba8e0e2f2021b76e97b306a06f2ae91d77ee5f23.jpg
i dont see why blood gdx is fine.
Jace Hall wants to sell the rights to condemned to a indie studio.
It’s just a clusterf*ck with NOLF. You probably already know on GOG there is a request thread to get the game put on GOG. I added myself to the request and I think it has the most request votes of any game that has been requested on GOG.
It’s convoluted as to who legally owns all of the rights and unfortunately it doesn’t look like it will ever be sorted out. It’s a shame. It was a really fun game and no possibility of any future games either.
I was thinking the exact same thing…
Everytime Atari is mentioned I hope for the day when someone acquire Blood IP from them and revive it in a good way! A modern proper blood remake….OMFG! :O
Man, THQ Nordic is on a roll. Acquiring all kinds of IPs and breathing new life into them. It’s always nice to see publishers that actually care about making games, considering the times we’re in.
Nordic is getting too many IP’s lately…
The Act of War series was good. I don’t think much work will be needed for newer systems.
Alone in the Dark: The Trilogy 1+2+3 and Act of War Gold are already on GOG and supporting Windows XP through 10. Linux versions would be appreciated.
Good to see at least one AAA publisher out there caring for RTS, unlike the rest of the publishers out there.
AiTD 4 was pretty good in my opinion. I would buy HD remake or remaster of this game on steam .
