Cloud Imperium has released a new in-engine trailer for Star Citizen that highlights some of the key features of Alpha 4.4. And, although the game has been in development for a long time, it at least looks incredibly beautiful.
From what I know, Cloud Imperium plans to release Star Citizen Alpha 4.4 next month. And, most of the things that you will see below will be featured in it.
In this trailer, we get to see the brand-new Nyx system. This system will have lots of different biomes, creatures, and environments.
Nyx is a small rocky planet with almost no atmosphere. It’s too close to its star for humans to survive without protection. Because of this, the surface is extremely hot and blasted with strong solar radiation. There’s very little air to block the heat or radiation, making it a dangerous place to stay for long periods. Players will need special gear to explore its harsh environment safely.
Nyx will be located close to its star, like Stanton’s inner planets. However, it will have much harsher conditions than most other inner worlds. The system will be lawless, unlike the UEE-controlled ones, and will be even more dangerous than the Pyro system.
Star Citizen Alpha 4.4 will let players explore the entire surface of Nyx. You’ll be able to mine for resources, deal with dangerous weather, and face challenges like extreme heat and radiation. The update will also include risky mining missions, trading and salvage opportunities, outlaw mining zones, and chances for solo prospecting.
As I said before, Star Citizen looks stunning. It’s easily one of the best-looking games out there. What’s surprising is that the game has been in development for a long time. Usually, when that happens, a game starts to look outdated. This is an issue that plagues all games that are in development hell. Duke Nukem Forever, anyone? But Star Citizen breaks that rule. Even after all these years, it still looks amazing.
There is still no ETA on when Star Citizen will be fully released. We also don’t know whether Squadron 42 will come out in 2026. The good news is that they look amazing. And no. You shouldn’t pre-order them or join the crowdfunding campaign. Just wait until they come out. After all, there are lots of PC games you can play until then.
Enjoy!
