Ubisoft has released a new trailer for Far Cry 3. This trailer is the first in a three part series of ‘island survival’ videos in which the company gives us an insider’s tour of the insanity of Far Cry 3. Far Cry 3 is being developed by Ubisoft Montreal, Massive Entertainment and Ubisoft Shanghai, the minds behind Assassin’s Creed 2, Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood, and World in Conflict. The game is planned for a November 30th release on PC, X360 and PS3 (though we might see a delay for the PC version as this is Ubisoft we’re talking about). Enjoy! Okay, I’m pretty sure that Ubisoft is playing a joke on us. Back in September 2011, the publisher announced that I Am Alive was not coming to the PC due to piracy. Truth be told, we were looking forward to this title but as you’d expect from Ubisoft, they decided to cancel the PC version in order to concentrate on the console versions and make it a new worthy IP. The game bombed and after this mess, Ubisoft decided to revive it and release it on the PC, despite all earlier bitching about PC piracy. You see, this is what is precisely wrong with today’s gaming industry. We PC gamers have criticised Ubisoft’s actions in the past – especially its controversial DRM – and hoped that the French company would listen and address those issues. We were not bashing Ubisoft because it’s the cool thing to do. No, we want a better gaming experience from the company that brought us Splinter Cell, Ghost Recon and Rainbow Six. In fact, we were hoping that Ubisoft would, somehow, treat us the way we should be treated in the first place. However, that won’t happen anytime soon. As GamesIndustry reported, Ubisoft is investing in free-to-play on PC, in a way to increase and guarantee revenue. We seriously don’t know whether we should be excited about the following news or not. You see, Ghost Recon: Future Soldier PC was advertised as a great PC port from Ubisoft and what we got was an un-optimized console port that had major CPU issues/limitations. Not only that, but the DX11 features that were added were not polished and it took Ubisoft a couple of months to fix a number of performance issues. Therefore, the fact that Assassin’s Creed 3 will support DX11 features and higher resolution textures is both a good and a bad sign. Ubisoft has released a new, extended walkthrough of Splinter Cell: Blacklist and the level that was demonstrated was the same one that appeared in this year’s E3. This walkthrough is centered around the action path of Splinter Cell: Blacklist and although Ubisoft stated that there will be a stealth approach in almost every mission, most Splinter Cell fans will be furious with what the company has done to their amazing franchise. However, this is why you should not get disappointed. Continue reading Splinter Cell: Blacklist – Extended Gamescom 2012 Walkthrough – This Is Why You Should Not Get Disappointed→
Now this is a clever way to promote your online DRM system. Ubisoft has announced that it is offering a number of its games for only 1 dollar this week. Clearly, this is a deal you cannot miss, however be warned that most of these games are plagued by UPLAY and its always-online DRM. But then again, the price is so low that we can’t really see why you should avoid getting them, as this is the offer most of you have been waiting for.
