H1Z1 – First free to play week begins on December 14th

Daybreak Games has announced that it will kick off H1Z1’s first-ever Free Week on December 14th. As such, the original standalone battle royale shooter will be free to download and play in full for the entire week, starting Thursday, December 14th and ending on December 21st. Sony Online Entertainment Sold to Private Investment Firm

Columbus Nova, a private investment firm based in New York, has reportedly purchased Sony Online Entertainment, of Everquest fame, renaming the developer Daybreak Game Studio. SOE was recently most well known for H1Z1 as well as PlanetSide 2 and were also developing a sequel in their EverQuest franchise. SOE Offers Refunds To Disappointed Buyers Over “H1Z1” Air Drops

Sony Online Entertainment’s new zombie survival MMO, H1Z1, has gotten off to a bit of a rough start. Releasing on Steam Early Access for $20 this week, H1Z1 has seen numerous server issues — rather visible to twitch viewers last night, myself included — but that in and of itself isn’t typically enough to cause a publisher to offer refunds. Especially in an early access title. No, what buyers seem most upset over is the announcement of air drops, which ask players to spend money on air dropped crates filled with supplies.
