During that conference, the alpha version of Battlefield 4 was showcased and according to the American employees of the chinese department, Battlefield 4 is powered by Frostbite 2 and will stress this engine at 80% (it was said that Battlefield 3 pushed only 30-40% of what the engine is capable of). This is awesome. No, this is beyond awesomeness and is what we call trolling. A couple of days ago, DICE’s Mikael Kalms revealed that the company would offer an option to remove the color grading effect in Battlefield 3. Fast forward two-three days and here we are today with Mikael Kalms claiming that DICE won’t offer such a console command after all. Not only that, but the company won’t allow gamers to use third-party programs to remove it, as they will get banned. Imagine that: a team that was made what it is today from modding a game is blocking mods for its game. Now that’s hilarious. And success everyone. DICE’s software engineer on servers and persistence, Mikael Kalms, revealed that the company will include a console command with which players will be able to disable – completely – Battlefield 3’s color grading. The good news here is that this will not get you banned from the official servers. The bad news is that there is no mention about the third-party tool/mod that already does this particular thing. Okay, let’s be honest here; one of the most controversial – graphical – things of Battlefield 3 was its blue tint filter that was used. We don’t know why DICE decided to go that route (must be the same reason the decided to overuse those Anamorphic Lens), but we’re thankful that there are modders out there, willing to go the extra mile and improve the game’s visuals.
