Resident Evil 6 Gets a 28GB HD Mod That Overhauls All Textures

Modder ‘Evgeshajk’ has released a must-have 28GB HD Mod for Resident Evil 6 that overhauls all of its textures. This is a must for everyone who wants to replay this RE game. So, if you were planning to replay it, you should do so with this mod.

Resident Evil 6 is considered one of the worst RE games. For this game, Capcom tried to please pretty much everyone. So, for horror fans, we have the Leon campaign. For action fans, we have the Chris campaign. And then we have the campaign in which Jake teams up with Sherry.

I’m not personally a fan of this Resident Evil game. However, it did have great combat and movement mechanics. So, that’s at least a positive thing about it.

Now, as you will see, the vanilla version had some truly awful textures. And that’s where this mod comes in. By using AI tools, the modder was able to upscale the original textures by four times. As such, they look much sharper now. Evgeshajk has also made some manual refinements here and there.

At the end of the article, you can find a comparison video. I’ve also included some comparison screenshots. The vanilla shots are on the left, whereas the modded shots are on the right. These will give you a pretty good idea of what you can expect from these new textures. So, be sure to check them out.

With this HD Texture Pack, Resident Evil 6 can look pretty great. Sure, the lighting stays the same, but just look at the textures! The original ones look awful. I mean, look at that building in the first comparison. It’s hard to believe the game was released with those textures. This is one of those rare times when AI really works wonders for an old game.

You can go ahead and download this HD Texture Pack from this link.

You can also find AI-enhanced texture packs for many more games. For instance, we have packs for Far Cry 3The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, and Final Fantasy 7 RemakeBlood 2Dark Souls 2FEAR, and Batman: Arkham Asylum have also received their own. And then we have those for Resident Evil: RevelationsRevelations 2Brothers in Arms: Road to Hill 30Resident Evil 7, and Tomb Raider: Legend. Let’s also not forget this one for Palworld and this one for Thief 2014. A few days ago, we also shared one for Fallout: New Vegas. On top of that, you can find similar mods for Baldur’s Gate 3, GTA 4, and BioShock Infinite.

Enjoy and stay tuned for more!

    1. In all honesty, this game wasn't that bad. In fact, I'd much rather play this than these "Resident Evil in name only" trashes that they're making nowadays.

    2. It was the first RE,that took the best from previous games and some bad's but…it was the first in the series where you could walk while you aim.
Being stuck to the ground while shooting was my main turn off for re4 and re5,the previous ones are too dated to play.
When re1 to re3 came out,i was in school and my parents bought me a gaming PC only if i had high grades.
By the time i had that PC,RE4 was out.
I find RE6 the best of RE4,RE5 and RE6,just because you could f move while aiming.
I finished re4 and re5 multilple times,i even have them on PS5 all of them, minus those older ones, but still i liked more re6(of old formula) re7 and village are first person.
RE4 remake from all games Capcom put out so far is the best.
I don't mind voice changes for some actors as i skip cinematics in most games,i play games not watching movies.

    3. Yeah the gunfight are absolutly calamitous, the feedback of the gunshots are laughable. Zombies lequefies and become sh*t when you shot them. The most important thing in a TPS is the gameplay and the gun feedback

      1. true but are we gonna pretend that re7 did not have that issue? Or that the re4 remake doesnt have objectively worse gunplay than the original?

    4. Well, its so bad as a resident evil game that is actually good as an action game. I set the game on easy and got the upgrade so i have plenty of ammo, i have no idea how bad it is on higher settings, i also used the fov slider to have a wide view and overall it was a bit of a clunky mediocre shooter but it had tons of interesting campaign missions with varied situations and objectives and it was not short. I enjoyed this more than dead space which was dull boring with idiotic universal ammo system and nothing interesting happening in it. id rather play a game like this than another survival crafting, rogue like farming sim, souls like or ubisoft open world collectahon game.

  1. The base resolution is dogshit.
The only proper way to this would be, the way Albert did with his RE4HD project.

  2. in all honestly i always wanted a hi-res texture pack for this game, its not a bad game apart from the identity crisis that it has. the best kind of treatment is something on par with Re4 HD project but hey its better than nothing

    1. same, if you set it on easy and get the upgrades so you can have more ammo and set the fov wide enough and feels like an action game, also i was surprised by the low quality textures, it reminded me ps2 games.

  3. Weakest part of this game was the blurry textures, just look at the pic of Ada Wong, looks like a PS1 game at times. They spent the bulk of the effort on character models, lighting and animations, but maybe due to weak consoles had to compromise a lot on the textures. Surprised it took so long for someone to correct this.

Edit: Apparently there's another AI texture mod.

    1. well, i enjoyed it as an action game set on easy with wide fov and tons of ammo, lots of action and different situations in the campaign. Not scary but it was fun,
