CD Projekt RED announced that the Next-Gen Update for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will release in Q4 2022. Moreover, the company revealed its full content.

According to CDPR’s Marcin Momot, The Witcher 3 Next-Gen will come with both expansions. Moreover, it will have all the previously released DLCs, as well as new DLC that is inspired by The Witcher Netflix series.
Regarding the contents of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Next Gen version, it comes with both expansion packs (Hearts of Stone + Blood and Wine), all of the previously released DLCs and patches + new DLC inspired by The Witcher Netflix series.

CD Projekt RED initially announced The Witcher 3 Next Gen in September 2020. Although the team has not revealed much, it did claim that it would support Ray Tracing effects.
In March 2021, CD Projekt RED’s lead PR manager said that the update would come in H1 2021. And then, in October 2021, CDPR claimed that this Next-Gen Update would come out in Q2 2022. In April 2022, CDPR stated that the update was delayed indefinitely.

The “next gen” patch is free across all platforms, so they aren’t making any money off consumers, console or otherwise. If they aren’t eating the total cost of this patch, I can only theorise that it’s being partially subsidised by Netflix, given the Netflix DLCs included.
I won’t be surprised in the slightest if they have new retail physical copies with the new gen console banners across the top that might trick a handful of rubes into rebuying the game. (Particularly for PS5. Cross-gen Xbox physical releases advertise support for both Xb1 and Xb Series, AFAIK.) I’m sure there’ll be plenty of word spread across social media and articles written, telling people not to buy the new physical releases, just pop in their existing copies to get the free patch. (Really though if anyone falls for such an obvious bait and switch, then they deserve to get ripped off IMO.)

Hopefully the pre next gen patched version is available. Witcher 3 looks good on PC and amazing with mods. Only thing that would make me update my Witcher 3 GOTY game would be a proper first person view. There are mods but they arent that great.
Netflix should have hired Eva Green as Yennefer, Kiera Knighlty as Fringilla Vigo, Cate Blanchett as Eithne and Stefanie Martini as Triss Merigold.

I believe there had to be a valid reason to move development in house. Perhaps Sabre didn’t meet deadlines or quality – yeah, I know, with the CP2077 fiasco that might sound funny, but it also may be the most important reason: CDPR trying to regain trust by releasing something properly this time.
I might be naive, but if I was a shareholder I’d tell the studio to not f*k it up again.
I think it might also be the studio wnating to hire in people who can hit the ground running with widely used engine. I’m no programmer, but I assume that it might take longer to train someone up on a propriety engine?

In this case the delay wasn’t because of their incompetence but because of virtue signalling. The current gen patch was contracted out to a studio in Russia. CDPR was one of the Western pandering companies who virtue signalled over the Russia-Ukraine invasion by ceasing business with Russian-based people.
In this case it might be due to pressure from their home country Poland, since they suck NATO p0zzed c*ck on the regular.
