The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask PC Recomp V1.2 Released

The team behind Zelda 64: Recompiled, an unofficial port of The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask on PC, has released a new version of it. So, let’s see what Version 1.2 brings to the table.

According to the devs, Version 1.2.0 adds modding support to the game. Players can install mods by dragging them onto the game window or by using the “Install Mods” button in the mod menu before starting the game. You can find many mods on the Thunderstore page.

Moreover, this latest version adds support for Texture Packs. Texture packs are managed with the same menu as mods and installed in the same way. Plus, you can find some texture packs on the Thunderstore page we shared above.

And that’s not all. Version 1.2.0 adds support for MacOS via a Metal renderer. It also has many graphical optimizations to improve performance on lower end GPUs. Plus, it includes various UI tweaks and improvements.

You can go ahead and download this latest version of Zelda 64: Recompiled from this link. At the end of the article, you can also find a video that highlights all of its new features.

Zelda 64: Recompiled is the second major unofficial PC port of The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask. The other PC port is 2Ship2Harkinian.

From what I know, both of these projects now support mods. So, you can use either of them to enjoy Majora’s Mask on PC.

For those wondering, Nintendo won’t be able to take down this project. After all, it does not contain any assets or code from the original game. In other words, it’s similar to the unofficial PC ports of Super Mario 64Crash Team RacingThe Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Perfect Dark, Sonic Unleashed, and Jak & Daxter. So, even if you don’t download it, you will be able to get it whenever you feel like it. These download links won’t disappear.

Enjoy and stay tuned for more!
