A couple of days ago, Steam hit a new all-time record with over 41 million concurrent users. This comes seven months after the previous record of 41 million concurrent users.
A lot of people may assume that this was due to the Steam Next Fest event. However, I believe that BF6 was mainly the game that pushed Steam to hit this new record.
The Steam Next Fest event began on October 13th. On the other hand, Steam hit its 41 million CCUs record on October 12th. The only big game that came out last week was Battlefield 6. I’m not saying that BF6 was the sole reason why we got to that record. If you look at the numbers, BF6’s concurrent users are lower than those of PUBG: Battlegrounds, DOTA 2, or Counter-Strike 2. Still, this new release contributed to that new record.
Let’s now take a look at the Top 15 Most Played Games in the last 24 hours.
At the top, we find Counter-Strike 2. Valve’s shooter had a peak of over one and a half million players. This is close to its all-time CCU record (which is 1.8 million players). CS2 is followed by DOTA 2, which is another game from Valve. Then, we have PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS and Battlefield 6.
In fifth place, we find the new Delta Force game. Now this is something I did not see coming. A lot of people assumed that Delta Force would be a flop. After all, its MP strayed away from the old Delta Force games. But look at that. Delta Force has been a huge success for TiMi Studio Group. The funny thing is that the game has Mixed and Mostly Negative Reviews on Steam. Still, these numbers show a commercial hit.
Next is Apex Legends, followed by Banana, Wallpaper Engine, and Bongo Cat. In tenth place, we find Rust. Stardew Valley and NARAKA: Bladepoint are in eleventh and twelfth place, respectively. And then, in the final two places, we find Grand Theft Auto 5 and Dead by Daylight.
It will be interesting to see when Steam will hit its next CCU record. Will it happen in 2025? Only time will tell.
