Sea of Thieves has sold over 1 million copies on Steam

Microsoft has announced that Sea of Thieves has sold over one million copies on Steam since June 3rd. In other words, it took the game almost one and a half months – since its release on Steam – in order to hit this milestone.

Furthermore, Microsoft announced that the game has been played by more than fifteen million players since launch in March 2018. This includes everything; from digital sales to Xbox Game Pass. Not only that, but June 2020 was the biggest month so far for Sea of Thieves, with over 3.3 million players setting sail.

It’s interesting to note that Sea of Thieves on Steam support cross-play between Xbox One and Windows 10. Thus, Steam players can play with their Windows 10 or Xbox One friends.

Back in January 2020, Microsoft announced that the game had passed 10 million players worldwide. Thus, it took MS and Rare around 5-6 months in order to reach 5 new million players.

It’s also worth noting that Microsoft and Rare have been constantly supporting the game since its 2018 release. The teams have released numerous updates, and added a lot of new content to it. This is something that put off a lot of players when Sea of Thieves originally came out, as the game lacked content. Thankfully, MS and Rare have been able to steer this ship towards the right direction.
