PLAYERUNKNOWN Productions has announced that its first game, Prologue: Go Wayback!, will hit Steam Early Access on November 20th. To celebrate this announcement, the publisher has also shared a new trailer that you can find below.
Prologue: Go Wayback! is designed to show off PLAYERUNKNOWN Productions’ new machine learning (ML) terrain generation technology. The game promises a world where every journey is different. Each time you play, you start with nothing and must find your own way to survive. You’ll explore, gather resources, and adapt to the world around you as you try to reach the Weather Tower. Every run is about discovery and creating your own story.
Dynamic weather and time of day shape your every decision. Rain can soak your clothes and drench your fires. Thunderstorms can wreak havoc on the terrain. Blizzards bring snow and the danger of hypothermia. Players will forage for edible food, seek sources of drinkable water, and chart their path from shelter to shelter.
The game will have no guides. There won’t be any markers to tell you where to go next. As such, you’ll have to just your instincts, your tools, and your choices. You will need to read your map, use your compass, keep an eye on the sky, and adapt to the terrain and the weather if you want to survive.
Prologue: Go Wayback! will run on Unreal Engine 5. According to the devs, the game will mix UE5 with custom machine learning (ML) to create maps. This system can generate millions of different maps with realistic terrain for players to explore. The team is also working on a new in-house engine called Melba, which will be used in two future games. All three games will lay the foundation of Project Artemis, a platform for massive, living multiplayer sandboxes where millions of players can shape their own worlds and emergent stories.
PLAYERUNKNOWN Productions has also shared the PC requirements for Prologue: Go Wayback!. PC gamers will at least need an Intel Core i5 8600 with 16GB of RAM and an NVIDIA GTX 1070. The devs recommend using an Intel Core i5-10600K with 16GB of RAM and an Nvidia RTX 2080 or 3070.
Enjoy the trailer and stay tuned for more!
