A couple of days ago, we informed you about shadPS4 booting Turok and Bloodborne. And, from the looks of it, this upcoming PlayStation 4 emulator can also boot Red Dead Redemption Remastered.
Now as with Bloodborne, Red Dead Redemption Remastered is not playable. The game can boot and go to the main menu. Then it crashes. Moreover, it has major visual and audio issues. So, make sure to turn down the volume of your speakers.
From what I know so far, shadPS4 is the only PlayStation 4 emulator right now that can launch Red Dead Redemption Remastered. The other six PS4 emulators (psOff, fpPS4, Spine, RPCSX, Kyty and GPCS4) do not seem capable of doing something like this.
As I said before, this is huge news for the PS4 emulation scene. The fact that the emulator can boot these 3D games is incredible. And I know, most of you won’t find this interesting. Still, I’m fascinated by what the shadPS4 team has managed to achieve in such a short time.
I’m also curious to see the next major release of shadPS4. Will its devs up their game? Will the emulator get additional major upgrades? Or will things slow down?
RDR came out for Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 in August 2023. Sadly, though, the remaster featured very minor graphical upgrades. So, in a way, it’s not that big of a deal. After all, we can already play the original RDR via Xenia at 4K with more than 60fps on high-end PC systems.
If you are still interested in the remaster, you can play the Nintendo Switch version via the Nintendo Switch emulator Ryujinx. Yes, the Switch version looks inferior to the PS4 version. However, there is a mod that allows you to play this version with your mouse.
Speaking of RDR Remastered, a rumor surfaced in May 2024, suggesting that Rockstar may finally release it on the PC. However, as of right now, the company has not shared any official plans for it.
Enjoy and stay tuned for more!

PC port is just on the verge to be announced this or next month
They are probably trying to find a way to charge $60 – 70 before annoucing, maybe a gta trilogy demake treatment? anyway, if it ever comes out for PC, I hope no one buys it, you can already play on more than one emulator, and for treating pc gamers as idiots that buy games that should've released 10+ years ago
People will buy it. People will pirate it. And it will be ten times better experience than emulators.
You'd be surprised at the amount of PC gamers that just want a console-like experience, meaning plug & play without having to tinker with anything.
Plus with the recent rise of PC handhelds (where the Steam Deck is owning more than 80% of that market), game publishers are finding new audiences to sell their older games to, where they run performant enough even with maxed out settings.
Expect to see many more of such classic games being ported over to PC, because that equals easy money for the publishers.
Rockstar is really stubborn as hell when it comes to game announcements specially to PC. Hate rockstar, i will probably pirate it when it comes to PC and buy it only if it is $30 max. That old game is not even worth $30 but still i won't be paying $50 or $60 for this old a55 game
idk some games just let go of and take the best of the rest you can get. For me the ryu emu version was the best one after never really having the system to play the other emu versions too well(25-30fps w huge slowdowns in places). Yeah unless I want cpu in the 95c to play it at or around 60fps w jet engine laptop fans, I have to turn off turboboost to get 54c and 35-45fps mostly not much better then the other emus of this game but it's more streamlined and includes the dlc.
Looks just ok but I was able to play it all the way through including dlc just fine. RS should have just done a pc port instead of a half axxed try at putting all this barely used map, NA, into RDR2 for what I would think was just a conversion add on for RDR2. Yeah if they do a proper pc port it will sell though and I'll eye patch it no doubt, great game.
this is false, psOff could get RDR1 boot but not in game, that was like a month ago, they are reworking the core stuff like system part, should be finished soon
